View Full Version : Reallocating to an Archer... possibly.

Okay, I know there are number-crunchers out there who want to help me...

Anyway, here's the skinny: I want to try out archery with Michiko, but I'm a lost cause with stat placement, etc. So... I'm wondering if someone would want to help me out with reallocating her to an archer. You can reply here, U2U me, or IM me at sweetlittleagony if you want to help out.

Thanks in advance! :)

I have the perfect ranged/edged plan for a ranger.

Finally come to your senses, I see!

Ranged ranger. only way to go

Love you Jolena!

Double in ranged, ambush, hiding and perception.

Get into crit padded brigadine.

Booya. Instant ranged ranger.

you forgot to add that you have to sacrifice ALL of your CM training for that.

but...it's definitely worth it.

I've yet to see that as a sacrifice to be honest.

*IF* breakage ever comes out then FGB might not be the best choice. All I have is just some regular 5x brig and it works fine for me. As for stat placement, dexterity determines our AS, not strength. strength does contribute to roundtime though. As far as training goes, 1x armor, 2x ranged, ambush, perception and hiding. There is a formula that adds AS for training enough in ambush and perception, i dont know what the formula is, but there is one. Other than that my only advice is to pick where you hunt carefully, you have no bolt defense.

Perception and Ambush ranks will help your AS only beyond the first 40 ranks. Of course they have their own benefits and are worth training in regardless.

If they ever come out with breakage, I'll buy myself a plain 6x-7x set, depending on prices. Until then... I'll stick with my fgb.

And thank you to all those that have helped and offered advice. I trained Michi to 25 last night, so I'll probably switch her over to an archer to see how things go as soon as she gets back from EN. :)

Jessa I have a good plan you can use if you want. It requires stat placement for training points though. It's worth it, if you want to give it a chance. I guarrantee you'll be happier.

When the game changed over to GS4, I changed my halfling ranger to an archer and I totally love it. She's only 19 and most of the time she can kill everything from hiding, she just has to be careful to not get overzealous and hunt with more than 1 or 2 in the room. I'm sure it's only going to get better as she gets older and can make her own arrows.

Rogue archers are the best, though rangers often have a better compliment of spells which can aid them, Camo and Phoen's Strength being the two main ones. I helped Gray a while back, and it seems like he's modified the plan somewhat. I'd still get as much CM as possible, as its very difficult to 2x dodge as a ranger. CM can help make up the DS in the various skills. Plus, you will want to get Stealthmastery and mFire when they are eventually finished. Plus, if you are going for a second weapon type, I would not sacrifice CM at all; the loss of AS eventually will make it an unviable route (although of course you can now "forget" your training).

1x Armor, PT, Spells and Harness
1.5x-2x Dodge
2x Ranged, Perc, Hide and Ambush.

Add the other skills where you deem appropriate.

I have heard the same thing Daina, which means it's definitely not an option for me. CM would be pricy as it is, factor in multi-op and I'm out.

Your constitution agility and strength are too low. I would drop Wisdom by 40 and Logic by 10 and distribute the extra 50 among your physical stats. That's 5 extra PTPs PER level you'll be gaining as opposed to 5 extra mental which turns into 2.5

StrayRogue

Wisdom can't be dropped lower, its a rangers prime stat.

Primes don't have to be over 50 anymore. minimum you can make it is 30(which is 20 with the +10)

True, but don't critique my stats on her thread, i don't wanna hijack it... I just wanted to show her what my stats were because I feel im pretty competant at my level.

I sent her u2us voicing my opinions on placing for training points as opposed to placing for stat growth. So it's not entirely off topic :P

i rerolled chy into an archer. I wasn't sure at first, but I'm keeping it. I've doubled in ranged, preception and hiding, singled in ambush, cm, and spells. I'm 28 trains, hunt tegu (33 trains) in illistim and I can whack em in one shot to the eye from hiding 90% of the time. And they have never touched me. Didn't have a problem with kirimon either. I mastered fletching before the change over, but haven't made any of my own arrows for hunting yet because i wasn't sure I was gonna stick it out. But I will now.
