Hey there folks,
With a smile I can report that MudMagic has named "Throes of Creation" as MUD of the month. Still lots for us on staff to do, still in alpha, but we are having fun with our little text-art world.
Still looking for writers, builders and artisits. Still at it with many features and new code added on a regular basis. Players, play-testers are welcome. Ideas, comments and suggestions on the forums always considered.
So if you get an urge to try out a new land for a while, drop in. Always free.

SPAM ALERT!!!
Not spam at all. I am a regular poster here, and have even asked in the past for writers and builders for this game. These games are a labor of love to those of us that work on them.
I was just durn happy to get a "Game of the Month" award from a game website, and shared it with the others here.

If I'm thinking correctly, albeit rare, wasn't Achaea listed at the top of the pyramid for MudMagic since forever ago?
Suggestions? GemStone IV + Dragonrealms, back to back. And Hero's Journey.

Suggestion. MudMagic doesn't matter.

I am not sure if Achaea, one of IRE's games, was listed there or received "Game of the Month". It likely could have been. They use a pay-for-perks model (like other IRE games) where as we are a purely free game. No pay, never.

People can hold that position, it still put a smile on my face.
We are currently ranked #12 at Mudlists.com, #48 at TopMudSites.com, #49 at MudConnect.com and in the top 100 at a few others.
None of those really "matter" when it comes down to it.

The real testimonials are either making money from it or having free continuity. Most MUDs vanish so quickly that it isn't worth the time investment.

Granted, they come and go.
I am not so sure that money should be a sole determiner for success, as I believe that success is best when looked at for each individual player. Did THEY enjoy it. If so, it is successful in entertaining them. Continuity is an important issue, that I agree with.
After coding for several games I started this one a year and four months ago. 99.9% uptime so far. Pure Java with a MYSQL database. May at some time in the future move it to a VPS server, but happy with where we are currently. I just love to code, and have enjoyed these type games as far back as I found them.
