View Full Version : Addons, advice and useful Xtras.
I'm officially a WoW noob, my Rogue is 39 Alliance.
The installation has zero addons or anything so far since I've only just re-installed after ages and I never really got a feel for the game.
Recently though I'm starting to give it a better try and it's not too hard to beat anyone in PvP who isn't totally twinked to shit OR a Paladin so I'm enjoying it.
Since I'm going to go for lvl 70 before I start any new characters (to get a full feel for the game) I'd really appreciate any nods towards any mods to maps or interfaces you've liked more than others and possibly some info on where you'd go from this point.
I seem to have been going backwards from finishing the STV greenhills pages q.
Heh yes I'm shit at WoW. I want to change that I think.
Thanks for any help in advance.

I dont use too many addons except for cartographer and baglady. I love baglady, you just type /sort and it sorts all your various bags at once.
You can d/l here: http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/11101/

I like the look of the baglady one, especially the mailcall macro where you can get all the money out of your mailbox at once. That would be great for my little selling character.
Isn't there some add on that does coordinates? I always see stuff on thotbot where people put the coordinates that show you the location of something.
I heard that one was cool.

cartographer
threatmeters
I need all the help I can get. I DLed Cartographer, but keep the help coming.
It's wank looking for the next q considering I'm not twinked at all and doing said q will take forever.
Also, I'm in a guild who pwne but tbf I don't want to play with other people.
Do I have to, to enjoy the game? If I have to be in a situation where I need to play alongside others I might as well finish now. I really enjoy playing alone.
I really don't want to play GW again lol

My old lady has played all the way thru without ever grouping or running a dungeon once and she loves it.
Personally the instances are shit are the fun part for me but to each their own.
You mean the instances are shit?
Laugh it up but the last instance I did was stormwind keep on my own lvl 33 and i thought it was shit.
I did a proper instance before that and all I had to do was be a picker. Granted the rest of the group died on the final DM baddie but me with 12 health ltg. lol.
I looted and left the guild.

I use Questhelper for the quests. It puts arrows and icons on the minimap for the quest you're running that's closest to you at the time.

Alright, I'm bumping this. I'm getting to the point with some of my chars where the standard action bars (normal, bottom left, bottom right) are not enough for me, and I need a mod that makes buttons easier.
Any suggestions? My question is, if all your buttons are on the screen at once, how do you have key-bindings to all of them? I'm not a point-and-click type of person, I prefer keyboard shortcuts.
I also need a good mod for threatmeters for my priest.

The only ones I had that I used were Atlas and whatever damage meter actually worked. Uses: know where the fuck you are in an instance and the appropriate loot; have hard data to show how 1337 you are.

I have Atlas, currently.

Omen for threat meter.
Atlas loot for boss drops.
Trinket Master for trinket management.
Recount for damage meters.
Healbot for healing on priest.
Decursive for priest.
Cartographer.
zHunter mods for hunter addons (I only use a couple.. don't remember the exact name)
One mod I used to love on my hunter was called ICU. It hasn't been updated in forever.. and doesn't currently work for me. Someone needs to fix it.

I use bongos for my action bars. It gives you up to 10 bars. Allows you to move them anywhere, and lets you move your mini map, pet bar, cast bar, bags, menu and roll bar anywhere as well.
Keybinding with it is pretty easy too. You go to the keybindings tab in the setup. Then just mouse over the button you want to set and hit your keybind and it saves it.

And where do I get all these fine add-ons?

And I understand the concept of keybinding, it's just...with 10 action bars, IE, 100 buttons, how do you come up with that many keybindings? :P
You effectively have 1 thru =, F1-F12, and ALT, CTRL, and I guess SHIFT to modify them with?

This all depends on class.
I use barely anything for tanking and dpsing.
OMEN is needed ofc. I use Titan panel for the ease. Onebag, grid, AG_unit frames, Atlas loot, Big Brother, BigWisgs, Cartographer, NaturEnemyCast Bar, CoolDown Count, Critman (thanks Methais for this), Deadly Boss Mods, Gatherer, eCastingBar, MobHealth, PitBull, Prat, Skinner, Squeenix, and Witchhunt for my healer.

I would never bother to keybind every single skill. A lot of skills are rarely used and you'd probably forget what the keybind was anyway heh.

Get FocusFrame, too.
And keybind r, t, y, f, g, z, x, c, v, and cntl+ all those I listed. I bind all my numbers and Fnumbers, but anything beyond 6 is something I only use while standing still. Also, if you use a gaming mouse, bind all the buttons. In fact, for binding mouse buttons get "Clique". It's an add-on that lets you bind your mouse buttons in three different ways. Offensive, defensive, and out-of-combat. So on my shadow priest I have offensive keybindings (Silence, offensive dispel, and fear), defensive keybindings (PW: Shield, defensive dispel), and out-of-combat (resurrection and fortitude).
Further, Clique only "works" when you're mousing over the players character panel. (Works in Proximo, for those PvPers). So, when my mouse isn't over a character panel, my WoW keybindings apply to my mouse buttons (Mass dispell and /focus are my in-game bindings). So effective, you get 4 different sets of key-bindings for your mouse buttons. You could add in shift+mouse button, Cntl+mouse button and really bind almost everything you use to your mouse -- but I find that's overkill.

Clique is excellent. You can even get it to work with Grid.

I use sRaidFrames because I find it less cumbersome than Grid. But to each their own.
I thought I'd be ok with simple mouseclick icons but then PvP hit and I realised I needed exactly what TheE is asking for. Cheers E.
Also I've found that If I'm trying to level a new char fast, Carbonite is the shiz.

Decursive for priest.
Didn't they ban decursive? How does it work now?
