City officials that were in charge of stocks functions were reprimanded for not having the common courtesy of telling a prisoner how much time they had remaining in the stocks. Thus, they have been commanded to answer any prisoner who INQUIREs as to how much time they have remaining in the stocks. Some city officials have been rejoicing over this, however, claiming that it makes the slow time seem to go even slower!

Why should city officials show common courtesy towards prisoners?

I can count on two fingers the number of guards who've shown any decency toward me when I've gone to jail.

But I'll wager you don't have (as many) magic powers as our characters. Although technically they're impossible to kill, we could pretend that they're scared of our characters.
