Use of the word "toon" in GS

:grr: I can't understand why anyone would use the term toon to describe their character at all... It's bad enough that the word is used OOC, but IC it just drives me nuts! The damn word is broken off of car-toon to describe your character in very cartoony MMOs such as WoW. Please leave it there!

I was playing prime a bit early this morning and like 4 people were using the word toon! I'm glad the RP is more enforced in Plat, I couldn't take that much.

Agreed. The word toon drives me crazy too. For some reason, buffs doesn't bother me nearly as much as long as it is used OOC. Rezz and sorcie and empuff are all GemStone-isms that are annoying for different reasons. so I wouldn't lump then in with toon.

If that didn't work, I would suggest getting a bunch of friends to report that charX is using ooc terminology to nip that shit in the bud!!!

RE: buffs, rezz- Buffs I dislike, and I was raised in GS with rezz. I really dislike massies more then buffs, but I do see your point. And no, I don't use any of the four dipshit terms listed above.

Rezz and massies still have a (sucky) origination from GS at least, which is why they grate on my nerves less than the toon/buffs/tells.

After a few minutes and this person gets a box.

"Ohhh a buggy on my boxies. everyone watch out for their tosies."



Sheesh... from an RP perspective I would rather have someone who did not come across as a complete child to open my locked boxes.

I've sometimes used toon in place of character outside of the game ever since I came back to GS from DAoC the first time. I don't see anything wrong with it, so long as it's done OUTSIDE of the game. I can only remember once that I actually had to explain what I meant while talking in an IM.

If someone is referring to their character IN GAME, it doesn't matter whether they use toon, character, or whatever. It's someone you need to be ignoring either way.
