Caught this in another folder and was wondering the same thing myself...
I was under the impression that enchant of 4x or greater on runestaffs don't linearly equate to DS; in such a manner that it's in no way worth the cost of higher enchanted staves.
anyone have any knowledge on that? cuz i've got a few 4x runestaves i'm saving to enchant up, but if i'm not gonna get any real "extra" defense from it, i may not bother.

you only get 1/2 the enchant in offensive I believe. To me it was worth it, but that was because I already had 10x stuff, so every little but was just a hair extra. I'd focus on higher enchant armor or a DB, if what you want is raw defense.

If it works according to the Play.net docs (and we know so much does), it would only provide 20% of the bonus in offensive stance, and 70% in defensive stance. Although the formula in the docs actually doesn't leave a spot for the bonus DS and is very badly worded...
Depending how it's calculated (as a two handed weapon) it could receive either 20% in Offensive, or 30% in offensive, and either 70% or 105% in defensive.
Stance Modifier = 20%+(Stance/2)
...
Using a two-handed weapon provides a 50% bonus, otherwise no modifier. The weapon enchant is applied before the 50% parry modifier for two-handed weapons is added. For one-handed weapons, the bonus is plus/2, for two-handed weapons, the bonus is the plus (enchant of the weapon).
If anyone wants to post their DS w/ a high enchant runestaff (or even THW) and again w/ a zero enchant one, in the various stances we could clear this up.

I'm curious as to what the guarded difference would be.
