Trying out Gemstone IV for my first time. On the trial thingy right now so can't post on the boards. I need advice what the best most fun class and race to play is. I like this game more then WoW since I can pass it off as work at my job because of all the text.

Every one is going to give you a different response. The best thing for you to do is to read up the profession descriptions on the official boards and think about what you'd like to play from there.

Ok....

Truth is really what she said. . .

Every one is going to give you a different response. The best thing for you to do is to read up the profession descriptions and the racial pages on Play.net The other great place to get great info is,

And think about what you'd like to play from there.

You know...

I'm going to lose man points for this..

I love when choosing character in a game for the first time to go back to an earlier point when I was kid. I always liked using the profession choices of Ultima IV, personally where you were asked ethical questions and your choices narrowed down your trait. I used to have an emulator for it, but I'm sure you can google it up.

If you want the easiest ride for the next 4 or 5 years to cap, go sorcerer.
I'd think empath might be as easy too but I've never played one so I'm not sure.

I would say empath as being one of the easiest for learning but expect to deal with drama if you plan on healing alot where empaths congregate.

Warrior for ease of melee combat and not having to deal with all the magic.

Sorcerer for ease of pure magic and not having to deal with melee combat.

Ranger (ohe/shield) for easiest of hybrid class with little magic and melee combat.

Certain classes have preferred races, so either follow that route or just go with what you'd like to play.
