What's the word now days.
I don't care about top of the line. I do care about affordable and functional.
I need to find a new carrier and new phone for me and the old lady.
Personal experience recommendations welcome.
Cingular pissed me off to no end. That is all I know. :)

<3 Tmobile.

Affordable, exciting interchangeable keypad colours (red, yellow blue), long 4 hr battery life, easy store size for glove box and revolutionary LCD screen for use with TEXT (txt) messages.
Go with Tmobile, too.
In my experience you will be in phone heaven.

I love my Verizon. I get service *everywhere*, even in Bumfucknowheresville, GA when I go to visit my fiance's mom. I pay about $45 a month for my line which includes all the normal perks like free LD, no roaming charges (which is moot anyway cuz I never roam), plus Roadside Assistance. They also have really excellent customer service. I have a razr which I got as a free upgrade a couple years ago too, and I like it. I'm due for another upgrade in another two months; unsure what i'll be getting, but i'm sure it'll be free.

Someone was telling me the other day that "Chocolates" are the bomb diggity hot shits. I think they're a kind of cellphone too.
I don't really know, though. I honestly want one of those huge-ass 1980s fifty-pound cellphones that Columbians used to use in warehouses to push la cocaina. I doubt they're supported by any contemporary phone services.

Chocolates are pretty good, but I hate the damn dinky keypad on them.
I got one free with 2-year upgrade through verizon, they gave my wife a free phone, too, for renweing contract.
Even without the free phones, I'd have stuck with Verizon. I've never had reception problems, and all of one dropped call in about 2 1/2 years of service.

Brings back memories.

Providers vary by region/area.
I've been a Sprint customer for a while (5 years) and have no complaints other than phone style availability.
I'll probably switch to Cingular for the roll over minutes though.
I've had 0 complaints with Verizon or Motorola phones

I loved my T-mobile service (north florida) and the plans were well priced. So long as your not interested in any nice phones. All their phones are shit, especially the side kick.
if you can afford it, verizon has excellent phones but their plans are a bit pricey. i just switched to them and the service is great.

Fuck AT&T. May they die a thousand bloody, skanky deaths.

Yeah, that's my issue with them. I used to have Bellsouth, and it was <3 until AT&T devoured them. Now I get a 10th of the speed I pay for and when I make appointments for technicians to come out and fix it, I wait two days in a row just to get blown off without any notice.
Yes, smoke is pouring out of my ears. (The wounds are fresh, it happened yesterday and today.) Shittiest customer service EVER.

I've had TMobile for....10 years? Never had a problem. They don't have a wide range of phone choices, which is shitty...but I have NEVER had a dropped call and their plans are fair.

I've never had an issue with Verizon Wireless. I have had trouble with Cingular (Cellualr One) and Sprint.
