Handles/Pommels/Hafts/Hilts oh my...

Does anyone recall a merchant within the past several years that sold items like wooden or metal pommels/hafts/handles/hilts that could be added to a weapon to give it a more likeable description, kind of like the various hides/skins with glue on the backing?

I remember seeing a listing on nilandia's webpage but i cannot seem to find it. I am looking for the listing, as well as one of these items to purchase for a sword and perhaps even an waraxe.

I think you're thinking of the Ebon gate merchant selling special wood blocks (ironwood, black ask, fel, messile, etc.). There were for use in forging, so only new weapons created by a forger.

There were some wraps as well. Leather type things you could wrap around handles to change the look.

Yah I've seen the wraps but could have sworn I had seen a listing of handles from a merchant list somewhere. Just can't find the listing again, now that playershops is back up heh.

It was a merchant service, not items that you could buy.

You could actually buy the handles, etc, and keep them for whatever reason, but the merchant had to apply them. I probably have one or two left, since I bought a few of the faenor ones for raw alteration material.

I never got to see the shops or merchants, so I don't know if they were something you could do yourself or needed to wait on the merchant for, but you may be thinking of the shop Ogred's Handles of Distinction. My records have that shop showing up last at the 2002 Ilyan Cloud, but it also showed up in 2000 and 2001.

I seem to remember this one running a couple of times in 2002 and 2003

Ran almost identical to the dyer tent... buy a hilt, hold it and a weapon in your hand and order. The hilts could be stockpiled separately (I grabbed quite a few myself) but the system was totally automated for adding them (no merchant required)

Unfortunately you had to use the system to add the hilts, it's not like the leather strips you can add yourself.

Those are the ones, ah well too bad they are automated/merchant attachment only. Wonder what they looked like when added to a weapon? Thanks for directing me, least now I know where to look for them if they appear again.

Worked like the dyer's tent did back then... just tacked a "xxx-hilted" into the description, and usually stripped out the first set of the 15/15 adjectives in the description (both sets of adjectives in some cases)
