I was told to go to Ta'Vaalor by somebody but I couldn't find many people :(
I'm a human by the way so I started at Wehnimer's landing.

Not sure what ou mean by less spammy.
But if I were you and was looking for better RP I'd leave Landing and check out Rivers Rest. Sadly there are not that many people there now, but you might have better luck since I play on GMT.
If RR is too far, try Icemule. It's great in the TC sometimes and easy to begin something by just saying hello.
If worst comes to the worst, probably try Solhaven.
But again I haven't had all that much chance to do anything there.

Good luck and remember to simply say hello.

I always found Icemule pretty good for roleplaying. People there will remember you, and respond to you.

If they didnt like vaalor due to population then theres no way theyll like RR.

If there weren't many people in Ta'Vaalor, how was it too spammy?

Personally, I always thought Icemule to be rather clique-y. They have a rather strong mindless crowd mentality there. I've always heard amazing things about RR, but never saw it for myself.

Solhaven and Ta'Vaalor are good for low level characters. Check the official boards and the official calendar for events that your character might attend. Also, the PRO/MHO system would be a great way for you to meet people with similar interests if you find one that suits your character. Some of the Houses (CHE) are very 'family' oriented (like Brigatta) and encourage RP amongst its members.

Gemstone isn't RP enforced? What about dragonrealms? Also, Ta'Vaalor wasn't spammy, Wehnimer's was.
Edit: Can I cancel the dragonrealms trial before the 30 days without getting billed?

Gemstone is a role-playing game, yes. Thing is, people's ideas of RP will vary. To some, it's simply enough not to be OOC enough to get kicked out by the GMs, and some don't even seem to care about that sometimes.

Others, however, will write entire life histories for their characters, carefully researching documentation to create as believable a character as possible, and will RP their character so flawlessly that the character may seem like a unique individual. Such people are, unfortunately, rare to find.

Where to find such people is rather hard to pin down. The current 'it' place for RP changes all the time, and even then, it's not easy to make your way into some RP groups because people sometimes only feel comfortable RP'ing with people they know have a style or method similar to their own. That said, RP'ers can be found in any town. It all depends on where and how you look.

Omera,

Nilandia makes some very good points...AND if you're human and you want to do some human RP'ing great place to be is that great city of Solhaven.

You'll also have to realize that no town, except maybe Illistim at this point, has as many people as the landing, which, depending on how you look at it, is a good or bad thing.

In my opinion, the landing means lots of people, a decent amount of merchanting, mass spellups, great houses, and other things, but the smaller towns, to me, means better RP and really getting into a tight community...which will help you gain a place you feel at home in...

So good luck to ya, wherever you find yourself.

I tried dragonrealms and found it had permadeath so I canceled the trial. I guess I'll keep my gemstone trial for now.
Edit: I'll be on the lookout for RPers.
new character name (I wanted to start a warrior): Endrersan
Whats a good place to RP for an EST based person?

I would second the suggestion for Ta'Vaalor if you're very low level. It's a closer knit community and once the few older people get to know you, they'll keep an eye out for you if you die or need help with questions about training and your character's abilities.

One suggestion to get to know people is if you're out hunting and see other people out hunting the same area alone, ask if they'd like some company. That's how my warrior met every one of her friends. (Actually, I take that back, one friend tripped over her while sitting at the bar in Malwith's and a drinking contest ensued.)

River's Rest is a close knit community and everyone there is very good at looking out for each other. It's probably my favorite community in the game, but it's also one of the least populated areas, so you have to put up with some inconveniences from that (like dying and someone managing to get you back to town by no clerics being around and it taking half an hour to find the NPC cleric).

The key, though, is to talk to people. Creating a personality for your character is a good place to start to build at least a general idea of who they are and how their history might begin to take shape.

Good luck.

I just moved my main character to RR and am loving it. I only meant to visit for two or three days, and after two weeks I can't seem to leave. It's a really great little community. Everyone knows everyone else and seems to have a little RP hook with them.

If Solhaven didn't try so hard at having people follow rules in a town that has a really low population to begin with, with people sitting around quietly whispering to each other, I'd advocate it more.

I truly love Solhaven on general principle, but sometimes the regulars can be such a pain in the ass. :D

There is more RP in Ta'Illistim than in the Landing. People don't use the amunet in Illi to ask for spellups or sell things, and while some people do go OOC from time to time, mostly everyone stays in character in public places. There's a lot of RP that happens around the fountain in Briarstone court (the Dhe'nar and those with connections to the Obsidian Tower gather there). Maybe it's the fact that most characters in Illistim are higher in level, but there's plenty of hunting for those lower in level too. Come for a visit.

That whole sitting around and whispering thing must be a 'small town' deal. It was really bad in Rivers Rest, where the entire commons would be silent except for all the people nodding, laughing, and giggling from some invisible whispers.

Annoying.

What does that have to do with roleplaying?

For some reason, having someone think "LOOKING FOR A WIZARD SPELLUP. 10K TTM" every 2 minutes seems like BAD FORM for RP. You may think differently.

I'm not a RP "expert" by any stretch of the imagination (I do what I can), but Ta Vaalor seems to be pretty good. Years ago I was an Icemulian (giant warrior); this was back when Icemule was a relatively small town, though now I understand it's grown a little bit since then. Large towns seem to lose some of the RP experience due to the number of people who simply don't care about RPing. Is that sort of what you mean by 'spammy'?
