I couldn't find the old topic that I started sooo... I'm starting a new one. Not that it's a big deal, but I'll give you an update anyway. So far in Algebra II On my first test I scored a 96%, on the second a 96% and on the third I took yesterday a 100% I was starting to get a little worried in Biology because of the first test I took I scored a 83%, then I scored a 76% on the second one, so finally I talked to her and she agreed to give me reviews for the tests because they were so hard. They'd give you 2 or 3 chapters to do work on, then give a test about only one section in one of the chapters. So it was pretty much memorize everything!! So I took the review today and scored a 98%!! I'm praying I'll ace the rest of the tests in there and finsh with an A. I need good science grades and Math grades to get into Metorology school.. I'm pretty much pulling a B average in my English class but I"m not worried about ace'ing that one.

Take both. The SAT II's couldn't hurt either.

I took both. I was told some schools look at SATs and some prefer ACTs.

What schools prefer ACTs? My HS never even mentioned that we should take them for applying to colleges, and no exageration out of like 500 graduating I don't know of one person who took the ACTs.

I don't know. I haven't applied anywhere that uses ACTs. I would guess someplace has to use them, or they wouldn't exist.

NYU required them when I applied.

Do all schools require SAT's? Do I have to take both?

Not all of them require it, but most HIGHLY suggest taking at least the SATs. They say that they aren't accepting mostly based on SAT scores anymore and focusing more on grades, but it's really a load of crap. Take at least the SATs
Alot of schools in the midwest and east coast prefer the ACT's over the SAt's.

Ya, you pretty much have to take the SATs to get in to schools. I just know that of Penn State, St Joes, Temple, WCU, don't care about ACT, only personal experience.
Anyone take both of them tell me what the difference is between ACT and SAT?

ACT has science. SAT doesn't. SAT II does though I think.

I took ACT, did very well. I think Southern Schools prefer ACT.

(I would recommend ACT if you're good at application science)

Take them both, if you fuck one up it's like 40 bucks to take it again... Remember though the SAT fucks you if you guess and get a wrong answer... the ACT doesn't penalize you for guessing, so if you're running low on time just fill shit in, you're bound to get a couple

its actually better to guess on the SAT's then to leave it blank. And I dont know what to suggest as the SAT's will be changing next year to a written essay. Im not sure if thats in addition to multiple choice or if it will be the essay alone. I personally hate writing on the spot like that so if I had to do it again I would have done the ACT's.

Jenisi, you're in Indiana, right?
I think most schools in the mid-west take the ACT. Virtually all schools in the country take the SAT, but many schools don't care at all about the SAT. The schools in the state I came from relied heavily on the ACT, so I met many people who never took the SAT.
They are slightly different. At least when I took them, there is a peanalty for wrong answers on the SAT. So, if you have no clue, you aren't supposed to guess. The ACT does have science reasoning on it. If I were you, take both and report the one that you did better on. I happened to do better on the SAT.
I think it's really cool that you're back in school. Good luck!

As far as test go, Jenisi, I'd take the SATs if I were you. The only reason I'm saying this is because if you're on a budget (those tests are expensive!) you should just pick one. If you can afford both, go for it.
You mentioned earlier that math is one of your strong points, and the SAT is 1/2 math. That's precisely the reason I didn't take it, because I suck at math. But if you're good at it, it can only bump your score. When I took the ACT it was three sections of English (which is why I did so well), one of math and one of science.
