Do you think monks will be the first profession to trully be independent of gear? Seeing how gear can be the vast majoirty of the game this may be important.

My guess is that monks will be able to wear light armor and possibly rigid armors. They will be able to train in brawling and thrown I bet. 3x dodge, 3x PT, 2x CM, 2x TWC, 1x Spells, .5x HP... Unless unarmed combat requires more training outside brawling...

What game are you playing? As long as the person playing has a pulse and a semi-functional brain (i.e. not Warclaidhm or Haashek), they can reach cap with shitty gear.
Gear might make things easier, but it's hardly a requirement. Unless you just suck really really bad.

I'm probably drunk 90% of the time when I play, and I capped.

Gregorian Monk or Shaolin Monk?
The buttseckz0r training would have to differ. Issi, read this post, plz.
I dunno. Maybe a spell circle with an ancient hymn sung in Pagoda Sunday School that boosts their 'dux and another mnemonic that'll add brawling ranks or something. Something.
Don't make 'em too Warrior-y or they'll be all:

Need to learn though? I remember all-of-a-sudden hearing Deck on Hot 97 back in '00 before The Internet was invented and let me browse upcoming albums. Suffice to say, I popped my collar, gat and wood. Son.

Monks will suck up until massive post cap, just like Paladins. Paladins are really 0-150th level profession, they really start getting power after the massive post-cap TPs. Monks will be the same way.Rat wheel ftw

And you know this.... because you've seen their spell set/training costs already?
Oh, and you obviously already know the inner workings of the new combat system as well.

Nah but I do know Simu wants money. And more time playing equals more money for them.

Am I the only one that doesn't want people to be able to convert to Monks? I think it would be nice to see people grind it out to the top instead of instantly changing the whole story of their character, and with migration, mistakes can be fixed. Just my .02
