I moved to Phoenix a year and a half ago. I'm moving back to the east coast on Tuesday. :)
I'll miss spring here. Driving with the windows down and getting the overwhelming scent of orange blossoms was amazing. It was kind of intoxicating. Fuck the 120 degree summers though.
It was a good move though. The low cost of living down here helped me get where I wanted to get in the past year and a half. Good luck to you.

I have some advice.
Don't go in job blind. Line that shit up first.

I lived down there for a while (9 months)
I didn't work the whole time I lived there though, it was more of an extended vacation for me.

Agreed.
Get you a job BEFORE you go, unless you have the cash to without a job for 3-4 months.
With that said, the last 4 management jobs I've got I used monster.com and hotjobs. 2 of those I got were for places I was going to move too, so I had them lined up before I had to move.

I've lived in AZ all my life until recently. Tucson more specifically.
Its beautiful this time of year, and when you will be potentially arriving. The summers are brutal, but bearable. You just spend more time inside during the day, and in the pool at night.
As for jobs, start hitting craigslist and the various monster/dice job sites. Not sure what your specialty is but IT is a growing sector in phoenix. Phoenix in general is expanding and alot of business are moving there. Google is building a new office there for example.
Get your resume updated, get a couple versions of cover letters written and proofread by friends and family. Then start emailing the package out to companies hiring on the various job sites and craigslist.
Thats my advice. In the mean time, if you have to...get a job at a retail store to pay the bills while you look for a salary position.
