Happy New Year everyone!

Mine was pretty tame this year compared to others. The hubby and I went over to my Regional VP's house for an hour or so just to make an appearance and chow down on some yummy food. Then we came home and the hubby ran off to work and I stayed outside with the neighbors watching the kids blow off fireworks.

I was drinking plenty of scotch and water - hold the scotch heh. But I keep telling myself it's a good reason that I can't drink this year. Next year, I can get uber drunk and make my mom babysit the new baby hah!

heh, new years ass was on the way down to our friends' place and his boss calls and says he switched the schedule and now has to work at 5 am, so he turned around on the highway and went back, since it's a 50 mile trip and just not worth it. so i came home around 2 and I'm doing my list task...just as shitty as the whole year was.

I happily stayed in last night and had a really peaceful New Years. We ordered a couple pizzas and had a few drinks, and watched the ball drop on our local TV station.

Then the Fireworks went off in Boston and we watched that for a while, then went to bed.

The wife and I had reservations at Brasserie Lipp at 9 with some friends of hers from the city. Dinner until 11:40 -- 3 bottles of wine between 4 of us. Walked all of 5 blocks to the Seine and stood on Pont Neuf with the masses. Saw the Eiffel Tower sparkle, popped the champaigne. We all had our own bottles. It was kinda crazy because everyone was out drinking -- hooray for allowing open containers. Finished my bottle by about 12:20. My memory is vague from about 12:30 on. Woke up this morning to a wonderful breakfast of eggs, lardons, and compte scramble. Fortunately no memosas.

We spentthe night in with the kidsl Three of the four, one went babysiting. We also had an extra..the 14yr olds boyfriend joined us. We ate a lot of junk food, watched movies, watched the ball drop, sent the boyfriend home, and went to bed. Yay..things are soo exciting at my house..hehe.

Today it's a big breakfast for friends and family. I think I'll be feeding at least six extra kiddos, plus my four.

Way to take post of the year on the first day.

I went to a house party on the North side of Chicago with my cousin. Got groped by a bunch of white girls while my girl friend was in the other room getting hit on by some mexican dude.

My friends came out around 2:30 and this one guys younger cousin who doesn't know how to be respectful\ handle his liquor got really ignorant around all the white people and they left at 2:45.

Then around 3:00am I got a txt msg from my boy's on and off again girlfriend like "I think your girlfriend is nice, but if she ever fucks up you have my #".

Then I went back to the Hyatt with my girlfriend and we ordered room service and watched law and order till like 5:30am.

I then got up at like 9 to meet my mom for breakfast.

Happy New Years To Everyone! Had a good ending to one year and a nice start to the next. Figured I would share something that pretty much sums up my wishes for one and all this year.

I wish you Enough


Recently I overheard a mother and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure.

Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the mother said, "I love you and I wish you enough".

The daughter replied, "Mom, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Mom".

They kissed and the daughter left. The mother walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see she wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on her privacy but she welcomed me in by asking, "Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?".

"Yes, I have," I replied. "Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?".

"I am old and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is - the next trip back will be for my funeral," she said.

"When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough' May I ask what that means?".

She began to smile. "That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone". She paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail and she smiled even more. "When we said , 'I wish you enough', we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them". Then turning toward me, she shared the following as if she were reciting it from memory.

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.

I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.

I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.

I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.

She then began to cry and walked away.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to

Well, it's the 2nd, and I'm just waking up from a 4 day drinking binge. I recommend it highly.

At some point we got a hotel room in downtown Buffalo and drunk whiskey straight from the bottle, then saw the second largest ball drop in the country in Buffalo (but then again, who does a ball drop besides NYC?) We then went back to the hotel and drank champagne til 4 in the morning, crashed, woke up at 7:30, got to Ralph Wilson stadium by about 8:30, started grilling and pounding back Blue and Blue light, ate chicken wings, was a mess by the time the game started at 1, then watched the first outdoor regulation U.S. hockey game ever. Lost to the kid, Crosby, but all in all was an awesome time. Then we went to a party for one of my best friend's little sisters (turned 23) and we drank somemore and I passed out around 10.
