View Full Version : Why are poeple so quick to anger?

GrumpyAssWarrior [quiet]: "Anyone interesting in alchemy crystals?"
You (Focused to GrumpyAssWarrior) [quiet]: "Bad juju selling on the amunet in Teras."
You (Focused to GrumpyAssWarrior) [quiet]: "Regyy gonna skin ya...hehheh."
GrumpyAssWarrior (Focused) [pounding]: "Heh like i would be scared, and i wasnt selling thank you."

Now this quickly degraded to GrumpyAssWarrior telling me "i don't need to hear such from someone i dont even see much around in my town up untill recently." The intention on my part was to have a little comical banter and GrumpyAssWarrior instantly switched on "shut the fuck up" mode.

News Flash: not everyone who plays the game is a complete jerk. So, if someone, namely me, makes a comment and ends it with a little snicker (i.e. hehheh) try to hold your fingers above the keys for just a moment while your brain processes what you read on the screen. It might just be a joke waiting for you to interact so that BOTH OF US can have a laugh.

Why is selling on the amunet in Teras bad juju?

Why does it matter if someone doesn't want to be fucked with?

Drunken Durfin

It is generally discouraged, as well as a lot of other things...
- no sleeping at the statue
- no spelling up in a room full of people
- no ringing the gong unless there is an invasion

Damn, I'll be sure and sell some shit over the amunet when I get over there then.

Self imposed laws are fun to fuck with, even if I dont have a high level character anymore.

Same here. We may have to go take over that town.

Shouldn't you be turning tricks instead of reading the forums?

It was my understanding that you [Sean2] don't play GS anymore because you are not making enough selling blow-jobs to cover the monthly as well as rent on your trailer. So, your in-game reputation is kind of a moot point.

I'll agree that people really do seem quick to anger in this game these days.

People are fucking idiots, and I'm probably one of them, but it amazes me how furious with one another's idiocies we get.

Maybe we'd be the exact same way in real life if we could just >prep 319 and cast at the shmuck at Kinkos. "I ASKED FOR CANARY YELLOW, NOT GOLDENROD YOU ASSHOLE! TASTE MY DIVINE WRATH!" Then just warn interact, take your copies, and you're all done. Just like in Gemstone.

See perfect example. Sean2 took that in stride and didn't respond with a flame or heated retort. He has obviously already had breakfast and is reading this with a calm and reserved manner. If only more people had his ability to see the bigger picture and not get offended at the slightest little thing.

Kudos Sean2, way to step up and be an example to the masses.

I guess I was the only one, but I thought this was funny as hell.

No, I thought it was too.

By the way, maybe it was the way you started right off the bat with:

OMG NO SELLING ON TERAS!!!!1!!1!!!111 That would piss me off too, he didn't even say anything about selling, my warriors frequently give away crystals and crap they find.

That's the thing, I didn't start off that way. An all caps "don't do that" is what is being inferred by him, and now you, ignoring the chuckle at the end.

I guess I'll just stick to knock knock jokes from now on to avoid any confusion.

The message is better put across if you simply kill him and then politely whisper "No Selling on the Amulet in Teras."

Besides, it should be more of a complaint about him trying to sell on the General channel vice the Merchant channel.

I sleep at the statue, I spellup where ever I please, and I ring that gong cause it's fun.

I love when people show up acting high and mighty trying to lay down the law. Its always hilarious.

When I was frequenting Teras there were more zombies at the statue than in NotLD.

Even if he's just giving them away and wasn't necessarily selling them?

Teras has always been a bit too high maintenance for my taste.

A chuckle at the end could mean you are a snert just trying to boss someone around. A simple cover of laughter in the hopes that you get to display power when you have none. I agree with VAsp, you were instigating. Your instigation got you a response that apparently you didn't want.

OMG! Different people react differently to snide smartass comments. If you didn't want that type of reaction, my suggestion is to not set yourself up for one.

Seriously, next time just don't comment. You just cannot convey in text how you are trying to say it.

Guy is probbaly sick of all the people chiming in with bs when all he wants to do is get rid of some stuff to someone that can use it before he sells it to the magic shop?

People tend to get fed up with others trying to tell them what-how-where they can do whatever they want to do. Someone tries to be accomidating and he immediatly gets a bunch of boy/girl scouts sticking their noses up his tuckus.

People sleep at the statue constantly, I fail to see how that is a player made law.

Also, it is hard to convey at chuckle by thinking "hehheh". If someone was laughing in my head I'd get annoyed quickly too.

Mighty Nikkisaurus

Usually if you're kidding, hehheh is not a great way to convey it. It came across more as a snicker than a chuckle, at least to me.

Unless it's someone you know or you follow it with "Just teasing/Just kidding/Just joking!" expect people to take what you say at face value.

I'd have probably gotten annoyed too.

I don't really see how anyone could actually enforce it without violating policy.

Those have been the rules on Teras for a long time, and the players have enforced it for that time.(I have even heard of GMs stepping in against the 'rule breakers' before.) I pretty much avoid Teras for its stupidity. And its damn traveling cost. And removal from the rest of the world.

The real question is what does Regyy have to do with anything? Does he just go nuts now anytime someone breaks a Teras "law" or something?

Not all, but a lot of teras people are very stuck up and don't become nice until you have been around there for awhile and you join their "I love Teras club." Then they can be the best people to hang out with.

I guess it is just due to the fact that they are isolated and have built their own little community. I spent a few years on Teras but don't care for it much now.

He does not go nuts, but he has been known to drag out to Pyros. I have not heard of him doing it in a very long time though.

Personally, I enjoy doing the drag to the mud baths. People wake up dirty and confused and it generally gets a laugh.

As for GM interaction, lots of folks get the lightening bolt for ringing the gong, that I have seen on many an occasion. I even saw someone get the bolt after they raised someone who rang the gong...that was a bit excessive.

People have been banished for repeatedly ringing the gong. Back in the day when you could drag via no group close, and there was no justice mechanics, or only for murders, people were far more prone to enforce said rules. Today, why bother? People will just cause trouble to do it if they hear of such things, such as the stance on pick pockets on RR.

That rule applies if and only if you cant provide a needed and valuable service such as raising, healing, or box picking. Then its overlooked in a hypocritical fit of need.

That would be a quick letter to feedback. If they don't want you to ring the bloody bell, make it unringable, otherwise, shut the fuck up about it. It's there, and it's a toy. People will play with it.

I guess but when i was there the whole damn city was asleep and i was able to sleep in peace. i think that's why i liked it so much...no RPing, but that was just my experience.

You're right. I'd follow it with "just jizzing on your cleavage!" if dealing with you.

Sorry I was accused of being too nice around here lately today. I've got a 2007 quota to meet.

See now, if you'd made that a "goal" instead of a quota you'd have nothing to worry about.
