So, as I posted before, my Plasma TV shit the bed after only being 6 weeks old. Ran into a ton of trouble with Bestbuy and repairs so I went directly to Panasonic and they replaced the display board with was $450 and labor of $150/h free of charge.

So after the TV was fixed, I couldn't help but notice this green spot that flashed constantly. It was a small spot, but was annoying enough. I had thought it was the digital box because I didn't notice it while watching DvDs or playing games. But after carefully staring, it was indeed the TV.

So I gave Panasonic a call and a guy came out the next day and he said what I feared, "It's a dead pixel and the entire panel would need to be replaced." Now that is the ONE part in both my 1 year warranty and my extended that was not covered in both Panasonic and Bestbuy. And I knew that Sony wouldn't replace a panel unless it had more than 7 dead pixels. Panasonic said they would put in for the replacement but the shot was slim to none in most cases.

Anyways, Panasonic pulled through and are replacing it for free! The guys at the repair place were telling me it cost about $1000 just for the part and would take quite a few hours to replace. At this point my TV has had more repairs than the TV worth. But they will be fixing it after the Holidays.

While I love the HDTV and I think the colors are so much more richer than the LCD, spending $3000 on a TV is a scaring thing when so much COULD go wrong that companies like bestbuy are even going to help (even after you spend $700 on their extended warranty). If I would have known all these problems, I would stuck with the ol'4:3 for awhile!

I had to rant!

Wow. I'm so glad I haven't had issue with mine. I got one a few weeks ago, and no problems at all. It's really nice compared to what I had before.

I hated Best Buy, by the way. I went to Circuit City and they were WAY better service wise, at least from my experience.

I'm glad you were able to get it replaced for free though, because the damn thing should not being doing that so soon into buying it..Yuck.

LOL you bought the extended warranty. Those things are total scams.

Glad the repairs are working out for you though. Still <3 my Vizio. No problems at all.

I'm trying to get Panasonic's extended warranty. They claim it is the same as the one year they give. But I'm having issues because I own one through Bestbuy.

My dad has the 37" LCD Vizio, he got the 5 year extended through Vizio for $70.

I guess we got lucky. Ike Hilliard's brother is the manager at the Circuit City where we bought our TV and the wife's laptop. Once he found out I was from Louisiana and the wife was from Gainesville customer service went through the roof. Circuit Cities computers crashed during the purchase transaction. So we were charged, but CC didn't have a purchase number (or whatever the term is) to actually charge our bank account. So the money was being held in limbo by the bank, the $200 rebate offer was about to expire that day. Ike's brother "sold" my wife the computer (she was asking to just be given a receipt so she could still claim the rebate) allowing her to take the computer home on "familiarity" and trust. Five days later as soon as the bank released the money, my wife went back in and finished the transaction. The regular workers were completely shocked she'd shown up. Needless to say, I know where we'll be purchasing all of our electronics from now on.
