Credit card fraud scam

I know this is common sense for most people but if my wife had answered the phone we'd be in deep shit.

I just got a call from an Indian saying our Chase account set off fraud protection blah blah blah which was obviously a crock of shit but I gave it some listen since I made a shit load of large purchases today for Christmas. Offered a call back number for my wife and when I said "That's not the number on the back of the card" the fucker hung up.

They had called earlier and left a message with the call back number as well. Real easy for someone to fall into this that doesn't know shit. The calls were marked as private on the caller ID.

When calling the call back number it sounds exactly like our chase menu does and asks for social security and account number EXCEPT it also asked for the 3 digit code on the back and mothers maiden name which the real chase line does not.

Heh, I actually got this same phone call too. All of their 'extras' are a load of shit, so I turned it down.

Their customer service is located in India, so I can see where this might fool someone.

I took it to the police the last time this happened. Admittedly, I had some free time. The P.I. was really cool and she spent some time personally looking into the company whose janitor was scamming with callbacks after office hours.

This happens every year. Good work on giving those fuckers the stiff arm!

Just remember, the 3 digit V-code is only needed for purchases. A credit card company or bank does not need that info. And if the charge to your card is JUST under $400, that is under the radar to your credit card company.

I didn't get this call, but my Grandmother did. Someone from "Chase" called her, asking for all of my information Address, Phone #, etc. When she couldn't provide it, they started asking for HER info, saying some BS that she was my reference. Then she hung up.

Fortunately, she doesn't have my info and is still smart enough to hang up when they started asking personal questions

I got the call too. Traces back to an autodialer in Canada. It has been reported to several different authorities.

I actually got another call like this a few days ago, but the caller ID showed up as random digits instead of Private Caller. That one also traced to an autodialer in Canada.

Ironically I got a real fraud detection/protection call today rofl!

I was being a dick to them too thinking it was another one of the fake ones... poor guys.
