So I get home from a long day of checking out at work, and try to boot up my computer.
I'm getting an error message that
c:\windows\system32\config\system file
is either corrupt or missing. Anyone ever had something like this? I'm running XP.

Try repairing it with your XP install CD. Also note that this is sometimes a precursor to complete hard drive failure.

Could be bad RAM... if that's the case, then it'll happen again. And again.

Everything bob said was correct.

If you can't repair windows you're going to have to reload windows completely. That is if there isnt physical damage causing the issue. So as stated before Bob was on the right path with his suggestion.

The fact that I spelled something incorrectly in my post but rushed to edit before anyone saw it is beside the point.
