Which of these movies are you more looking forward to seeing? Someone will need to provide links, as I am at work, but both trailors show during I am Legend.
I am looking forward to both movies, but Iron Man looked AWESOME.

I've never really thought of the Joker as a very good villian, although it looks like they've done a really nice job of getting it right this time, and I really loved Batman Begins.
Despite that... Iron Man looks amazing and gets my vote.

The Joker was a great villain in everything except the stupid Adam West series. He was voiced by Luke Skywalker ffs. Dark Knight going away.

I look forward to Iron Man a lot, mostly because I love watching Robert Downey Jr., he's a very entertaining and charasmatic actor. Moreso, however, because it's great to see a Super-hero on the screen that I have yet to see...
which brings me to Dark Knight...
Am I just making this up, or hasn't this already been done? I mean, I'll see this because I like Christian Bale and Gary Oldman, but I'm not without some angst about seeing a remake of another batman movie. I know it's been like 18 years, but still! I figure, A. Ledger is gonna have a hard time beating Nicholson's performance...I thought he was great in that, very much embodies my mental portrayal of the character. B. Did anyone see the clip of Heath Ledger standing in the middle of the street with a long gun pointed at an oncoming Batman vehicle? Seem familiar?
Not to be skeptical because I like what I see, but like Legend, I'm trying to figure out where all the new ideas are...I'm missing them...I want to see something that wow's me because it's new.

The joker in the original batman was far too corny... not nearly dark enough. I think Dark Knight is going to portray him as far darker, mostly because today's movies are allowed to be very dark and still very successful. I do agree that I like fresh ideas, even if batman begins was a sort of remake/prequel it felt very fresh (Scarecrow not being in the previous movies).
I just really wish they'd do the Bane Breaking of the Bat series.

I would call that an homage.
Batman Begins suggests that while the core concepts are nothing new, this version of the Joker story will have a much higher badassery quotient.
As for there being no new stories in general, I remember reading some German guy (whose name I can't recall) list off about 30-40 types of literary tragedy and being hard-pressed to add anything to the list. The artistry is in the telling significantly more than the story itself.
I hope Heath Ledger pulls off the ape-shit insane Joker to an amazing degree.
I'll leave the "HEY JACK NICHOLSON'S PLAYING THE JOKER" Joker at home, thx.
However, my Joker in film needs will not be fulfilled until I see him crush Robin's skull with a crowbar.

While Jack made a great villain, he didn't capture the comic book Joker well at all.

Doubt they can pull off the Knightfall series with a young Batman. He's had many years under his belt and many more with Robin before he had to decide to pass off his mantle. After the disaster that was Batman and Robin, I'm thinking they're gonna stay away from Bane for quite a few movies.

Sure he did, the Joker has gone through a lot of incarnations, Jack got it right he just wasn't the sadistic Joker from The Dark Knight, but the Joker hasn't always been like that.

I think people need to realize that the earlier run of Batman movies were pretty much pulled from the hay day of the comic code, and publishers adhering to it.
Jack made a great Joker ... for what most of the remembered of Batman at the time. The same can be said of almost every character of the run.
Robin was introduced to "soften" the Batman image and add a fatherly aspect to the character ... which was why the second robin was killed pretty much about the same time the comic book industry gave the comic code the finger.
Read anything pre-Robin ... or better yet ... find yourself a complete copy (graphic novel ... because it's going to cost you out the ass to get the original 4 part) of Miller's Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.
That's pretty much the premise (not Miller's DKR) of this next run. It's not the candy coated bullshit ... it's the original intent of the character. Sure, he doesn't kill, he won't use guns ... he's not above beating the holy shit out of someone and leaving them in a permanent catatonic state though.
My son just got the animated version of the Iron Man movie and it was pretty good. I'm betting the RL movie will be just as good, if not better.

The Joker is supposed to be totally bat-shit insane. That is to say he's totally random, unpredictable and does shit purely on a whim. Jack's Joker exhibited clear signs of psychopathy; he was methodical and collected.
Incarnations abound, Jack's wasn't how the Joker was written.

I think Downey Jr. playing the ex-alcoholic bajillionaire Tony Stark is an interesting fit.
Now, (in my dreams) they just need to do a whole series of "civil war" or "ultimates" or other such run. Do Cap, Iron Man, FF, X-Men, Spider Man... all rolled into one spectacular series.
The Joker was a great villain in everything except the stupid Adam West series. He was voiced by Luke Skywalker ffs. Dark Knight going away.
Are you saying the cartoon was shit? The cartoon was fucking incredible. Some of the best I've seen. And 'luke' did an amazing job of voicing the joker.
