Well....

I think GM's have to have some character and some values and let's add, morals to that list as well. Ooo, I forgot maturity. In my opinion Khaladon had none of the above.

Let's take for instance a simple scenairo:

Game crashes and gets set back in time.

Player A assists. A certain GM helps them. This certain GM doesn't like player A. Player A loses 250k silver while gambling at "let it ride" game in Gemstone. A certain GM says to player A, there is no proof that you lost that much silver therefore I will not replace it.

Player B assists. A certain GM helps them. The certain GM likes player B. Player B says they lost 100k at "let it ride" game. A certain GM says okay and replaces the silver.

Player C assists. A certain GM knows and likes player C. Player C claims to have lost 200k at "let it ride". A certain GM says okay replaces 300k and then says, "and for your trouble here is an extra 100k".

This behavior from a GM is totally unacceptable to me.

Kabosh and I had some incredible plans for Four Winds Hall. However, because it was just the 2 of us it was going to take some time. We were going to put in a "Balouga fighting Arena". We would have it so you could fight one on one and you could form grps and fight each other like that. A certain GM thought that was a GREAT idea. When we proposed it to the "main GM in charge of approving such events", that GM wasn't too keen on the idea and instead of helping me and Kabosh sell the idea (which is what we had to do for every event we wanted - sell it - The certain GM who thought it was a GREAT idea, immediately sold us out and said he agreed it wouldn't be a good thing. The certain GM did this EVERYTIME a "higher level" gm didn't like our idea. Basically, we call that "sucking up" to the higher level. And in doing that he felt it would get him favor but it also screwed premium.

Kabosh and I were all about Premium. We were willing to push the boundries of what we could do if it was for the Good of Premium. A certain GM could careless about premium. All he wanted was to be popular with the "higher level" GMs and his friends. Popular...give me a fken break. If you make the players happy and you do what's right, people will like you for it. Bottom line. But I guess that would go along with MATURITY..which a certain GM was sadly lacking in.

I remember thinking when you left that it was organizationally odd that the premium points system suddenly changed after we were told to use the old points to counting the old points as used. It was a big mess! I'm glad you're enjoying your time in DAOC, and I agree, you can't DM/GM a game and start playing again. Too much thinking about "This system does this!"

Wow, it's been so long since I've talked to Gemstone players. Reminds me why I really loved being the premium GM. You guys were always the coolest people out there.

When Khaladon joined the premium team, we had been discussing ending the point system. Kabosh and I felt it was really time intensive and filled with bugs. We had better ways of rewarding premium loyality which is really I believe the base of whole system. It's been so long now, I don't even remember how it worked.

I do remember though when we were working on what we would give out for a certain amount of points, Khaladon refused everything Kabosh and I thought would be nice. He was such a troll. He would always start with the lowest common denominator so there was no working up. We always started with something that was totally overpowered and then we would work it down a bit.

I don't know, it seemed when I left that the "higher" level GM community in the game was slowly squeezing out the ability of GM's to be creative. Before Khaladon joined the premium team, Kabosh and I could pretty much do anything we wanted. That is why we built our own island. I would constantly get repremanded for doing events that I didn't get approved, hehe, but I didn't care because most of the events I did, wouldn't have passed the approval process. So I would say, "ooo, I didn't know I couldn't do that. Sorry. It won't happen again." And then in a week or so I would go do something again that wasn't approved. I figured, "heck it was my island. I can do what I want on it." ...grin That was what made it fun for me.

I think I accidently shopped 5x shields once when 4x was all we were allowed to do. Ooopsie. My attitude was always...Hey, they are premium they deserve it. ( not taking anything away from nonpremium but nonpremium wasn't my job)

Instead of me dishing out the trash. If you have any questions about the "other" side feel free to ask. I'll answer anything I can.

If you are interested in trying daoc...you can go to my myspace page and send me a mail and I'll tell you about it. I love it. Only thing it lacks is the GM interaction. To me that was the main thing Gemstone had above all Graphic games...was GM / player interaction. And that in my opinion is where Gemstoned failed because they didn't encourage enough of it and they made it so darn hard to do at the end of my time there.

if you get in a good guild that runs during the times you can play, you are always running with your friends and you become a killing machine. It's so much fun. It's also very challenging because you have to know what you are doing and you have to work with other people. Vent is a requirement imo if you play daoc.

I thought about going back to Gemstone a few years ago, but nahh..after playing a graphical game..it's really hard to go back. And just like Gemstone, you make friends and they become a big reason for why you log in and play.

One of the few alters I was able to get was from you. Years of playing and not getting in on lists or spinners or other crap left me ignorant of the system and rules.

So when you were altering character descriptions and doing room order until you passed out, I stuck around. I got a few chuckles when you bolted a few people who had already had head to toe character alterations, or had jumped back into line for a second ... and then I got bolted (only a stun and major nerve damage) after resubmitting what I wanted after a brief and terse explanation of the rules ... and then the cocknozzle who called for again and wouldn't shut up afterward got bolted to death and his corpse rolled out of the room ... gotta love those rare instances of poetic justice.

Anywho ... EQ sucks and part of the charm of WoW is the comedic relief it offers (in the cartoonyness) when you slaughter other players ... especially midgets.

Khaladon is more of a reflection of Gemstone's decline into "we don't give a damn about our players" attitude. Allowing someone who while not even a GM cheated to become a GM is just retarded. Heck Khaladon was one of Gemmerchs biggest clients as well as one of his biggest check bouncers.

Those who liked him, probably liked him because he gave them "extras". And they left because now all their "goodies" are gone. Boohoo!

Actually, you do have a problem saying what you think. You always phrase it so you can backpedal in case someone comes along and makes you look like a dumbass. It's not so much about being nice so much as an attempt to look less like an idiot when you fuck up.. which is fine but you totally lack the ability to be at least a little subtle about it.

But if you don't like what Tigermist has to say, why come in here and try to act all high and mighty and belittle Tigermist for saying how she feels/what happened. Humm where to begin....where to begin. First off I think I stated in the very beginning of this thread why I left Gemstone. I left mainly because of Khaladon..so of course I'm going to get some pleasure in the fact that he got fired. What can I say? I'm only human. I have been gone for 3 years at least and like a "good" gm, instead of saying that Khaladon was a total moron and ruining premium, I just quietly slipped way. I also was very aware of all of his favoritism...heck I had a front row seat to it.

Yeah I absolutely am bad mouthing him, you are right. And to be honest it feels really, really, really good! I loved working for premium and I loved being a GM. But when Khaladon joined the premium crew everything turned to crap. I worked for the game because it was fun. When the fun stopped, so did I. I worked as a GM for 6 years. And had Khaladon not been put on the premium team Kabosh and I may still be there....well now that I think about it, probably not..but I'm sure we would have been there a lot longer. At least long enough to do the cool things we had planned.

My post on this particular board wasn't made to get respect. Those who know me either already respect me or they hate me. I'm not going to change that with a post. To be honest, I came on here because I was told this board wasn't heavily monitored and I was hoping to catch a few old friends... and of course vent on Khaladon..hehe :club:

I never said how aweful being a GM was. People asked me and my reply is it's not all fun and games. If you played the game when it first came out, the items GM's could make were really nice. The managers through the years nerfed the items to the point that they were garbage imo. Maybe now, you can get good items again. I have no idea. I'm not playing there anymore.

I don't have to be professional...I'm posting on a nonofficial board, I'm no longer a GM. I can be an :asshole: hehe I had to...love these icons!!

I really liked Tigermist/Balouga. Awesome GM and it was a shame when she left. It's not often that you come across GM's that are doing it for the love of the game and helping customers than to try to gain something out of it for themselves in some way.

Ilvane has just as much of a right to state that she didn't appreciate Tigermist talking badly of Khaladon, as much as Tigermist has of talking. However I would at least give Tigermist props for not saying anything until he was out of the GS GM picture and feels comfortable speaking her mind.

I like Paul as a person. As a GM I wasn't a fan. I didn't understand the lightning bolt fascination. I didn't feel he was truly helpful to players as a whole and was very rude whenever he felt it was his right to. One thing is to get frustrated, and another is to let it out on customers. No matter how wrong a customer may, they are STILL a paying customer and should at least get some sort of respect as far as their request, even if to politely say no.

It's nice to defend your friends, but seeing as how those people have the ability to come here and defend themselves, there comes a time when it can be TOO much defense and bordering on kissing ass. I understand standing up for your friends, but since you're not always privy to how they behaved away from you, there comes a time that you need to step back and let them vent.

Khaladon is more of a reflection of Gemstone's decline into "we don't give a damn about our players" attitude. Allowing someone who while not even a GM cheated to become a GM is just retarded. Heck Khaladon was one of Gemmerchs biggest clients as well as one of his biggest check bouncers.

Hi Tiger! You were always one of my favorite GM's and when I finally got to be a gm you left :(. You were so wonderful that last Vegas trip made me feel part of everything!

I loved working for the players running stories, doing merchants but I was too clueless on all the politics and well I don't think I fit in very well. But I did leave my mark on the game. Hagga the horrible, mithril claids and of course banning warclaid on christmas day.

I have never tried DAOC I have the disks somewhere maybe I will give it a shot but I love my WOW character hehehe..
