Creatures get harder?

Did the creatures get harder?

I was beginning to think that someone played a joke and spelled a few rats up, but to my surprise none dropped any spells when I killed them. I've never had an issue with rats and all of the sudden I have to pay attention or try otherwise I wind up dead. I have yet to log onto my older characters and hunt.

The rats: Their AS now is 34 and I've seen their DS up to 15 even after they tried to attack me.

Granted it doesn't seem like much, just seems harder. Anyone know? :?:

Skeletal Giants went from low teens to 37 trains.

Makes getting bones for arrows much more interesting.

[Catacombs, Mossy Climb]
Thick moss covers every available surface here. Where you can see through the growth, you notice that the walls seem fairly recent and are made of red brick. Openings in the ceiling at seemingly random intervals provide some faint light and occasionally you hear footsteps and murmurings overhead. The tunnel continues on to the north, up along a high ledge. You also see a giant rat and an old rusty grate.
Obvious exits: south, up
You swing a longsword at a giant rat!
AS: -8 vs DS: -10 with AvD: +41 + d100 roll: +21 = +64
A clean miss.
Roundtime: 5 sec.

Where were you hunting those rats?

Catacombs has nice weak ones but I think Ice mule has rats in an area with a DS pushup which would also be why they pushed the AS up as well.
