SCORE! Never had any of their product but have seen/heard about them.
Anyways UPS just dropped off a huge cooler of steaks burgers cakes and potatoes and seafood.
I have no idea who sent it and the tracking number didn't help. I know one of you admirers must have sent it.
Steak by mail makes me a little uneasy.
Is it packaged well enough to avoid any potential festering meat issues?

My sister is able to get corporate discounts on Omaha Steaks for the holidays... I'm heavily considering giving my girlfriend some for christmas (she doesn't eat red meat), as a gift to myself, that would go well with the pots and pans I'm getting her.

Surprisingly so. I was like WTF is this. It's a huge double plastic wrapped thick ass cooler loaded with dry ice and the vacuum packed and nicely boxed meat.
According to the tracking number it shipped overnight out of orlando.
I've always been uneasy with the idea as well.. guess I get to find out now on someone else's buck.

I've both received and sent Omaha Steak gift boxes, they rock. If someone sent it to you on purpose, they must like you! The company's reputable, as long as the packaging is intact, you should be golden.

I cannot possibly see how a shrink wrapped who knows how old steak is better than a fresh steak from your butcher.
The filet mignon we buy from our butcher is much better than the ones we got through Omaha Steaks. The shredded bbq beef was pretty damn good, though.

Same here. I'll have to write up a review after testing/tasting.

I've seen it happen before.. Not with steaks though, but who knows? Gotta bump up 4th quarter profits somehow.

Omaha Steaks have been in business for a good while now. If there was problems with festering or rotten meat, you probably would have heard about it by now.

Or not, considering I don't keep an ear open to the online steak industry.

Peam knows all about festering rotten meat since he used to cart corpses around.
That and his mother's vagina.

I get Omaha steaks every once in awhile from my mom. The stuffed scrod or whatever that fish is sucks. It smells like ammonia and never seems to cook right. It's been sent to me in 3 different gift packages and it is always as sucky as the last time.
The steaks though are actually really good, though a little on the small side. The burgers are terrific, especially if you use a little McCormick's steak seasoning on them.
The twice baked potatoes are better than any of the ones I get in the supermarkets.
The cake - eh. I'm not much of a store-bought cake person, I usually bake my own or get them at old-time bakeries. Not impressed.
The "precision" knives suck. They're worse than the fish. The only thing they're precise about is that they will NOT cut your skin in a very precise way, because they just plain aren't sharp enough. I gave up after trying to slice a tomato, tossed the whole set, and went back to my Henckles set. Though - a butter knife from my 15-year-old stainless steel tableware would have done a better job of it than the craptastick shit that came with the steak.
Omaha steaks are great for steaks. And the twice baked potatoes. Beef is what they're best with, and they're very reliable with their beef.

I've delivered omaha steaks many times and I can say that UPS ships them as quick as possible. We will make sure to leave them at your house if being delivered there as they are considered perishable. They're shipped in dry ice so that will keep it cold long enough for them to be delivered.

After a quick attempt to stab my wife in the neck with one of the knives she quickly exclaimed "PILLOW FIGHT!".
Fucking knives are a piece of chinese shit. They should last forever however since they're made of lead.
