A big thank you and a pat on the back for stealing from me then logging out when caught, thanks for reminding me why I stay away from the landing.

This is what highlighting is for.
This is what highlighting is for.
If you're referring to highlighting so you can tell when he logs back in... thats been changed.

Doesn't stop the name from screaming at you when you cross paths though.

Most thieves in the landing are barely ever visible to the public.
Keep in mind RL stuff does cause conflicts sometimes. While this probably isnt what happened to Vyst in this situation, there have been times when I've had RL take priority when I was in the middle of an in-game conflict and have had to leave (although Kontii is usually on your end instead of Vyst's).
In situations like this, REPORT him for mechanics abuse. Then let the staff determine if he was out of line or not. It's a more productive alternative to pointing your finger at someone.

Oh definately. I reserve RED just for that purpose.
PS. For the OP: What you described is called slamming and its against policy btw.

I've heard he does that quite abit, actually.
Especially if he thinks you're old enough to mess him up.
It's pretty stupid too. Just go to some random room and hide, or a thrak table, whatever. Unless they've already disabled you, but I've seen a lot of people do it even when they just got caught

Yeah, I used to see people all the time get caught and immediately leave the game.
A kid in Icemule used to do it all the time. Next time I log in I'll look at my highlights and put his name up.

This happened to me when I was in the landing, by a guy named Cinder. Got caught, ran, I located, he logged.

I've been stolen from Vyst, stolen with Vyst and managed a few herbs from him on occasion and can tell you he's not afraid of the conflict.
RL intrudes from time to time as was stated above. Spread some news around ICly that you're looking for him, perhaps that you're starting a lynch mob due to his antics on and around the dais.

In situations like this, REPORT him for mechanics abuse.
Never REPORT. As a rule of thumb, GM's suck at anything remotely related to CvC.

The only time I've reported was when these dicks dragged my char out of town and kept killing and raising over and over.
Other than that it's pointless and just draws more attention to you.. which is something I never wanted considering some of the shit I was up to.

Idiot.
My Pirate girl is trained in pick pocketing though she's low level (16), I pick her marks carefully and one time when she got caught, it turned into some hilarious RP, and she got to keep the silver (not like it was much, I think maybe 20 silver).
I always expect for her to get her hand blown off at the least, or else just die. Pickpocketing is an open invitation to CvC though, logging to avoid is shitty.

People logging to avoid CvC after pick-pocketing is mechanics abuse.
It's hard to have any CvC if they log....
Hence report them to change their behavior.

It's way better to just chop their head off the next time you see them. The GM's are pretty worthless with anything even mildly related to CvC, and quite frankly it's far more satisfying then wondering if the GM's ever fucking did anything about it (which they didn't).
Back when you could see when everyone logged on/off, I'd just turn my gold ring one room away and pop back into the room when they logged back in.

Yeah, with the login/logoff changes, it's kinda tough now though.
And you should definitely still chop their head off the next time you see them, just report them on top of it.

You need to wait around where they logged of with a macro of:
act An angry <your name here> returns to the fray.
ambush <assholes name here> head

I used to make scripts for when Rarr used to slam on me.

ROFL, I like you're style
Just pop this in before your other part:
waitfor <assholes name here> arrived
and you can sit all day waiting for him
