View Full Version : As long as I'm here...

Alright, as I mentioned a couple times in a couple other threads... I've been without sleep now going on, oh, lets say 50 hours just to round it off.

I've noticed myself getting weirder as time has gone on. I have enough coffee and energy drink in me to kill most water buffalo, and I'm feeling alot like Stan in my total randomness (Which is kinda fun, no doubt).

Luckily i've been playing the insomniac game for the whole semester, so I'm pretty functional- I can actually do this project.

My question as stands- what's the longest any of y'all have gone sleepless?

48 hours, and I'm not remotely functional at that point. Go to bed!

I couldn't sure with any certainty as I don't really keep track, but I would be surprised if I have ever been awake for more than 2 days straight.

I've been awake for near 5 days once. Was a very odd experience.

Yea, I've got a project due at 9:40 AM. I'm so boned, it's not funny.

Just shy of 2 days.

Actually, it's a little funny.

The worst part is that I was up for about 35 earlier in the week, got about 6 hours of sleep, and now am doing this.

4 days but that's due to drugs. And that's the best guess I can make since after a while I was sort of awake but asleep.
Horrible experience. And the come down lost me my job. Long time ago, that.
Ew.

Once I broke through "the wall" at about two and half days I wasn't tired at all anymore. I just experienced a dull sense of euphoria and operated in a haze. Everything I did made sense in my brain but often would not come out how I thought it, especially near the end. On the fifth day I was listening to music and I knew the song and I heard lyrics that definitely were not the real lyrics at all and I had to force myself to go to sleep. It took about 2 hours to get to sleep, but then I slept for 19 hours.

Most I stayed awake one time was for 4 days, I believe..?

It wasn't voluntary moreso that just before that time I was wondering if I was schizophrenic because my night terrors got so bad- I would wake up and the dream wouldn't have ended, I'd still be experiencing it physically. After a particularly bad one involving being totally covered (and my room totally covered) with bugs and blood, I didn't sleep for four days out of fear. When I finally did sleep I slept without any dreams.

I remember while going through those days however, it wasn't fun. By the second day it felt like everything I did was slow-- I also mostly remember that when things were silent and I'd just sit there, I could really feel/hear my heart beating. For some reason that really freaked me out.

I just did it to see what would happen.

I don't think I could force myself to stay awake that long without being totally terrified to sleep. I would lay in bed for a few hours at a time during my four days just trying to sleep and I couldn't. :/

Just over 73 hours, I was playing no limit hold 'em in atlantic city at the time, and I've never felt more awake than the 10 minutes it took me to walk back to my room when the game finally broke and pass out.

I'm pretty cracked out on coffee right now, so it's all good. I'm probably typing at like 1240 wpm.

Jesus, longest I've gone without is like 36 hours. And that was not by choice. Go to sleep.

Can't... have to finish this project. Then there'll be sleep for the wicked.

This is one of those things you never share in public.

Finals week's bad for me with sleep because, as drew said, you end up going on autopilot, and I prefer that to test anxiety. Probably 3-4 days.

Also, term papers can end up this way because I want it done and out of the way.

I worked for 52 straight hours once. I would assume that's my record. No sleep sucked but the OT was great.

I spent several days awake after somebody thought it would be cool to put LSD in my beer at a party.

I may have killed a few neighborhood cats.. or was it children.. I don't remember it's all a haze.

I stayed awake (with like 30 min cat naps) for 8 days straight once

ofc it was drug induced and ofc I never have touched said drug since then. It felt like I was in the movie trainspotting or spun

I was up 4 1/2 days due to drugs once, and 3 days once due to illness (malaria).

Non-altered? 2 1/2 days, and I started to hallucinate, but that's because I've got a very overactive imagination.

I just did it to see what would happen.Likewise, I hit 90something hours. I want to say 96 or 94. Now that I have thyroid supplements I bet I could go even longer but I'm not dumb/bored enough to try it anymore.

I haven't slept for 10 days, because that'd be too long. - Mitch Hedberg

I think I went like four or five days once when I was in the Army. There may have been a couple of cat naps here and like, like half an hour a piece....After a while you just start getting delirious and EVERYTHING starts getting really funny. It's not something I'd want to do again. I like sleep and sleep likes me.

When I was little, I used to be afraid of going to sleep. Not of childhood ideations of monsters and nightmares in the present or transcending into the dreamworld, but rather a distinct fear of falling asleep and losing control. I dunno if it was a phobia or not, because the DSM hasn't been expanded enough to cover me, but I remember staying awake for five nights in a row and just going about my daily business.

Most I've ever managed is three and a half days. It started at my friends where we ran into a serious situation where we needed to drive 4 hours to help another friend. The car broke down on the way back and we had to walk about 6 hours back to civilization (anyone who knows Morrisville NY should understand). And an addition 6 hours back to the car. Oh the joys of being under 20!

About 75 hours once, don't think I could ever do that again...

Oh, fuck, Morrisville. Most common place to get a ticket on Route 20, hands down.

It's only an hour from where i'm from...
