Or maybe not...
You are struck by a large rock!
... 35 points of damage!
Hard blow to your chest breaking several ribs!
Hard to breathe!
You are stunned for 6 rounds!
Spell Temporal Reversion (540) ended.
Abruptly, everything you see and hear comes into better focus. Your personal temporal reality has rejoined the true flow of time.
A stony fist thrusts up through the ground, and a greater krynch effortlessly pulls itself to the surface!
!SJ>
An earth elemental pounds at you with its heavy earthen fists!

An earth elemental slaps the ground spraying rocks and dirt everywhere!
You are struck by a large rock!
... 25 points of damage!
Strong blow breaks your neck!
You feel your extra strength departing.
The tingling sensation and sense of security leaves you.
The layer of stone surrounding you crumbles away.
You feel your extra magical awareness leave you.
A faint silvery glow fades from around you.
The glowing specks of energy surrounding you suddenly shoot off in all directions, then quickly fade away.
Your breathing becomes more shallow.
The dim aura fades from around you.
The bright luminescence fades from around you.
The silvery luminescence fades from around you.
The powerful look leaves you.
You return to normal color.
The misty halo fades from you.
The deep blue glow leaves you.
The light blue glow leaves you.
The shimmering multicolored sphere fades from around you.
The brilliant luminescence fades from around you.
You no longer bristle with energy.
You feel less confident than before.
You become solid again.
It seems you have died, my friend. Although you cannot do anything, you are keenly aware of what is going on around you...
You mentally give a sigh of relief as you remember that the Goddess Lorminstra owes you a favor.
...departing in 10 mins...

That is the most idiotic spell ever created. I always thought the latter outcome had to be lesser then the previous not more deadly.... wow.

Way to not read what happened. 540 didn't activate for him on the first hit, and then it ended, thus not being able to save him on the second hit.

Yeah, if anything this isn't 540's fault, this is Durfin's fault for not paying attention to spell durations.
And Rimalon - WOW! 2x EMC?

No kidding. That actually appeared to work and...
I might have to start using it but, I can't justify spending 40 mana for a 10 minute spell when I never get hit to begin with.
Man, three times?

I usually have my spelling up pretty well planned out, and when I'll want to head out based on when I'll be at where I want exp bucket wise... so I just throw 540 up right before the pulse before I run out, so it's not like it costs me anything, and I'm rarely on the field for more than 10 minutes.
I do wish it stacked though...

At that time, I think I had 70 ranks of EMC.
So 18.5% chance. Go go gadget d100.

Yeah, I can fry pretty quick, but I like to take my time for loot and more kills. I usually spend around 15-20 minutes a hunt. I guess if I ever make it back to Teras, that'd be the place to use it.

So you got super lucky most likely. Close to 1 in 5 chances of it going off. I guess that's not too bad, but I doubt that ratio would warrant me spending more points in EMC.

I posted that as more of a "wow, talk about sucky luck" rather than a bitch about the spell. It was really just bad timing.
I must admit though, my mage has 100 EMC at 77 trains and seems to get pwned more often than not by the cmans in the bowels, even with 540 up and running. I'll have to start logging the hunts and check the numbers.
More to come...

I wasn't calling you an idiot or anything, that sort of thing happens, and it's definatly funny it timed itself perfect. I was just telling Lysander he's way off on 540's usefulness.

I'm actually curious about how in the hell 540 actually WORKS with maneuver attacks. At times it seems that it simply makes you avoid it while at others it just makes the maneuver "hurt less". But when does the 540 check occur...? The messaging changes, as well, and it's weird. Below are some of my experiences with it in the bowels; hell if I can figure it out.

Well the seriously harmed ones you wouldn't have actually been killed, I was unaware it actually worked on CS based spells, because it won't actually give you a bonus to your TD will it? (which would make you think it could make things worse).
The horrible end you obviously would have died.. then they rerolled it with a "substantial" bonus to manuevers.

I wish we could select something that made our characters graceful and valiant or clumsy and cowardly, so instead of a message like that we could get something like:
Sobbing uncontrollably, you trip over your own feet but somehow manage to narrowly avoid the oncoming boulder!
