So... I went out today, came home and my Plasma HDTV wouldn't turn on. I had it on before I left the house and was only gone about an hour. The LED in the front blinks 7 times and is red. It pauses for a few seconds and continues the blinking. I checked the internet to find details on it and can't really find any facts on the issue. It's a Panasonic HDTV. Lotta people are pointing to a high-voltage security shutdown.
Going to call Best Buy in the morning but figured I'd ask here in case we have an expert. I have a 4 year extended warranty with a replacement plan so I'm not shitting myself, but kind of pissed off seeing it worked before and nothing changed in the household (no power outage, outlet still works, nothing was moved, nothing new was plugged in, etc etc.).

I think that's the main bulb out signal. Mine went out and when I turned it on, it gave me a specific signal that I could look in the manual and determine exactly what the deal was.

Yea, apparently Panasonic is super secretive about the blinking lights. Sony's and Phillip's 7 blinks for most models means high-voltage security shutdown, which all it needs is a reset and its good to go.
Guess I'll just have to wake up in the morning and give them a call...

Try unplugging it from the power source totally...mine did something similar and unplugging it fixed it. My first thought would have been to check the lamp(s) though. You may have had a good power surge. I learned that the battery was dead in my UPC when I had one and my TV stopped working.

mine did the same thing once.
Unplugging from the wall and then resetting did the trick. no problems since.

LOL @ Calling best buy, have fun wasting your time.

Yeah, like anyone there would know. I worked at CompUSA a long time ago, a call like that was a good way to get put on indefinite hold, or referred to the service department for an expensive "check up".
Oh god!!! Not your TV!!!
You better fix it before the Florida-Florida State game!!
I need someone to watch it for me, because I will a) be at work and b) do not own a tv.

P.S. 7 blinking red lights MAY mean ship it to Lansing.

Repair guy is coming Monday, if they can't fix it in my house I get a brand new TV.
I tried the hard reset over night, no go. Was off 8 hours, unplugged, along with everything in the back of the TV.
When it does kick on for a second, the top right corner is extremely white and then it pops off.
I called Panasonic this morning as well, they were unable to diagnose the issue over the phone. But regardless, the Authorized Panasonic Repairguy is coming from BestBuy.
Man oh fucking man. If I would have known about this mishap with plasma TVs I woulda never got one...

So, repair guy just left. One of two things is blown. Either the display board or the [thing] that supplies the display board (or I guess both). He's going to order both parts and replace them on Thursday or Friday. No TV for another week it seems. :( Maybe I should drag out the 32" from the basement, but man is that a beast to bring up the stairs...

So how many "do-overs" does the guy get before it's considered that he cannot fix it? Did he call "no take-backs!!" as soon as he entered your home?

I have in writing that if this doesn't work, I get to grab a new TV down at BestBuy.
