View Full Version : Official:Enhanced Nodes and Experience Absorption Changes

We are implementing some changes to experience and absorption, primarily to encourage more player interaction. These changes include the following:
Enhanced Experience Absorption In Major Gathering Places -- Major gathering locations in every major realm (see list to follow) will now enhance your rate of experience absorption, above and beyond what a normal node will provide! While most of these nodes are public, all CHEs will also receive this benefit in the Common Room (or equivalent) of their primary house (not annexes). MHOs may coordinate with their guru to purchase an enhanced node for a Common Room (or equivalent) in their building, provided the room is either open to the public or the MHO is sufficiently large and active to support a "members only" location.
Adventurers Guild Bounty Rewards -- The total amount of the experience rewards will remain the same; however, two thirds of the reward will be granted directly to your absorbed experience. The remaining one third of the reward will be granted as unabsorbed experience, as it is currently.
Logic Bonus Changes -- The benefit of Logic bonus on experience absorption has been changed from a multiplier of the base amount to an addition to the base amount. When on a node or in town, you will absorb an extra (Logic Bonus/5) experience every pulse. When in a hunting area, you will absorb an extra (Logic Bonus/7) per pulse. For most players this will result in a small improvement while on a node and no significant change when in a hunting area.

How does this affect xxx? When i get my immediate reward will it take xxx into account? so If I instantly learn 300, will it be 900 if I have the full xxx going on?

This is retarded, in a way. EVERYONE is going to cap. I am putting away damn near 200 exp per pulse here on XXX. They had better plan to push the level cap WAAAAAY up, or move to the EXP system of that uncapped idea, but with ever increasing level thresholds.

This is insane. There are some places/level ranges where you can easily do a bounty every 15 minutes (Ta'Vaalor bog, for example). So if someone does that, this means they'll get ~2400 (times their XXX?) exp an hour on top of whatever they absorb? So at 3x XXX, you can get like 12k xp an hour?
Somehow I feel like I'm not quite understanding this....

I wonder if instead of doing it on a time rate, they'll change it to exp rate.
As in they'll eventually change it so:
Before, you had XYZ amount of time at full XXX, before it goes down.
And now, instead, you'll get XYZ amount of experience at full XXX, before it goes down.
I just turned in a bounty. I was awarded 800 bounty points. 600 went straight to my exp counter. I'm on XXX.
To me that doesn't look like that 2/3 was tripled. Didn't someone say it was?

Excellent change. I hope the 2/3s on bounties get tripled during XXX, or else we lose exp during the key grinding points. But the node changes (Helga's) are excellent.

As is my 56 rogue....102 vs a pure getting 200....this will get nerfed.

No, It wasn't. PSInet lied to me. On 3x XXX on a supernode, I am putting away around 125 EXP per pulse. Basically, I absorb at +1x faster than normal, as I am usually 90 per pulse on 3x XXX.
The bitch of it is..I CANNOT stay saturated. I turn in a task and almost immediately drop back down to fried, as 2/3 the EXP is instantly absorbed. How that is supposed to encourage RP I don't know. It is just encouraging me to try to do 1 bounty task every 20 mins or so.

i'm only getting 31 per pulse at fried. i have a negative logic multiplier so it seems about the same for me, even on special nodes

It will do a really nice job of pulling people out of tables... I don't even think everybody knows about it and I'm already seeing a lot more activity than normal at some of the "lesser utilized" areas.
This is a good boost for thieves too.

I think the point is that since their head clears quicker, they have less time to sit at a table regaining mana.

Sucks for a lot of things actually, Bonespear tower, Ledge near pookas, Gyldemar Road at OTF, etc. All those people need to go back to town now and trek all the way back.
Not only to get max exp absorption, but since there will be less support in those areas now.

i get 28 at a table, 31 at a supernode. i'm not about to throw a party to be honest. the adventure guild thing though is huge, you could get like 2400 an hour instant xp on just that alone

Ah... yeah I think they'll get over it. What with the base duration of spells I really don't see it being an issue, it only takes 8 minutes to get full mana, and at a rate of about 35ish exp a minute at best they should be fine.

Hopefully the new AG experience awards will increase the amount of "fix" potions on the market as well. Might want to think about selling them for as much as you can now before the bubble breaks.

I figured out what was going on with my craziness. An RPA I got was still active at either an extra 1x, or .5x, and I had forgotten about it. I am only absorbing a bit above normal now.

Alright. I just did some testing while I was freshly fried.
Super Node = 39 per pulse
Regular Node = 37 per pulse
Others post numbers of freshly fried, non-saturated, exp pulses on super nodes and regular nodes?
Definitely not worth sitting in public and enduring all the asshattery.

I agree, I could care less about the "special" rooms. For those of us who hit the bounty guild hard it's like everytime I turn in the task I get damn near 1k in experience. So figure 4k exp about an hour plus what you get while you are absorbing.
I also enjoy that I am saturated for shorter periods of time so I no longer have to wait to turn in a task.

It's no different than before, absorbtion-wise. Previously, you'd gain the extra 2-4 exp, if not more, from being saturated. Now, you're barely saturated for more than a few minutes before you have to go back out. So, the super node isn't helping at all really, it just shifted where the tiny bit of extra EXP is gained.
Also, you can only do up to 4 AG tasks an hour anyway. There's a 15 minute limitation on each task. So, what is that? 600x4 (assuming you get 1000 EXP off each task), 2400 "instant" EXP an hour. The AG thing seems big, but if you're in the field constantly you lose exp versus being on a node. I haven't done the math versus before the change, but on the surface it seems pretty much the same to me.
Either become a victim to idiocy on a super node, or don't and stay where ever it is that you stay.

All those people need to go back to town now No they don't. Have you even checked if people would want to? (That is, the experience lost by not being on any node for the trip back compared to the time gained by being on a super node?)

You know, I semi-take back what I said. The AG thing is a huge boon to those who are extremely casual in their play. You can basically play for 15 minutes and get 1500 EXP, which would include hunting (field) EXP absorbed plus the 66% from the task. Log off, and then do what you get paid to do, work, then come back later and do the same thing. You don't have to stay logged into the game for an hour to absorb that same 1500 or whatever EXP.
Here's 23 minutes worth of EXP starting at Clear As A Bell (and this is before I turned in the second task I just completed):
Time since last check: 6 minutes, 24 seconds Time since first check: 23 minutes, 29 seconds
Fame Since Last: 0 (0 per minute, 0 per hour.)
Fame Since First: 7065 (300 per minute, 18051 per hour.)
Exp. Since Last: 380 (59 per minute, 3562 per hour, 7 hours, 39 minutes, 19 seconds until level.)
Exp. Since First: 1861 (79 per minute, 4754 per hour, 5 hours, 44 minutes, 8 seconds until level.)
Your seven day Gift of Lumnis cycle will complete in 6 days, 3 hours, 41 minutes, 54 seconds.
XP RESET to reset scan data.
Your mind can't take much more of this! You must rest!
At 25 minutes after the second task (have to wait on the time limit for the third task with the AG -- Bah, just turned that one in, because it was an escort task. There's another 15 minutes gone.):
Exp. Since First: 2710 (105 per minute, 6355 per hour, 4 hours, 9 minutes, 26 seconds until level.)
