This was in response to a question regarding the recent design change for Empaths. As I'm seeing it, They made Dumb Choice based out of convenience, they know it, and they will not own up to it.

Anyone else care to comment?

Perhaps they wanted to spend their time on Monks so they can get them out sooner? Yeah, I couldn't keep a straight face the entire time typing this.

I fully disagree with you. I'm happy they stayed with MjS. The empath base can reflect the mental side just like the Bard base reflects the mental side since they are hybrids as well.

Also, I'm also not sure why you feel the need to USE CAPS.

Caps Have Always Been THE Way TO SHOW ULTRA-AWESOMENESS!

And I am happy they made empaths remain having MjS compared to MnM. Want MnM, be a Savant. I was never comfie with the diea seeing monks were going to have access to something on par as MjS.

Or perhaps an exaggerated indicator of ones angst in regards to said topic? Who knows...

I started a vote on the officials to see just how many empaths want minor mental vs major spirit.

It probably won't help, but there is always a chance that it will.

I am pretty darn certain that Estlid and Oscuro are in favor of minor mental but I am not sure why they wont comment on this.

I think they are being told to keep quiet and to watch how things progress.

So if you are pissed and want minor mental, please vote. Or, even if you want major spirit, come vote also. Here is the link to the thread to the officials.

Can I comment on your random use of capitalization?

Edited original to remove some rather "random" use of caps. Happy now :p

You can try starting a new vote in the "Empaths own Wizards" folder.

Monks in 2004!

Yes, along with a few other things not worth remembering.

Isn't the Monks 2004 thing in the character creation screen?

In some other game, apparently. I wouldn't be surprised if the next update allowed empaths to get exp from healing their own battle wounds...

I'm quite happy that they are leaving things be, but I play an empath who is a soldier first, an old money playboy second, a would-be-tavern-owner third, and a healer further down the line somewhere. I was fully prepared to give him up when they neutered his polearm skills, and perhaps even give up GS altogether.

LOL I'd post that on the Officials.

I don't know after basically giving everyone a permanent EXP boost, they probably already have something like that planned.

That should have been "I was fully prepared to give him up after they got around to neutering his polearm skills..." Which means 211 and 215 are his reasons for being who he is and my reasons for playing him.

They haven't yet, so with the help those two major spirit spells along with 1130, signs, an occasional shot of 117, and fancy tactics, my polepath is rather good as a physical fighter, especially with mstrike and trip thrown into the mix.

At 42 his bone shatter CS is 210 though. I have no idea if that's good or not. I suspect it isn't.

My sorcerer's CS at that level was actualy about the same, so your not realy getting any negative to your spells casting for useing weapons.

It was, right along with Savants 2004. I think they have removed it now. I didn't see it last week.

Aren't Monks supposed to get MnM spells too?

Monks are, yes.

Thats not an accurate comparison. Bards are a hybrid semi, they only get 2 spell lists. Their base list focuses on 1, their secondary list focuses on the other.

Empaths are (supposed) to be pure-hybrid. minor1-base-minor2. Right now they're pure spiritualists that get dicked on lore training.

The Empath circle is significantly mentalist, though.
