View Full Version : 8x enchant potion

Recently won the 8x enchant potion from Solnari's raffle. Will probably use it myself, but thought I'd at least take offers on it to see if anyone had interesting trades or enough coins to entice me.
So, i'll be taking offers on:
A bromin potion
-has 10 pours (so enough for two failed pours, just in case)
-can temper anything +35 or lower

i think this thing will just keep getting sold forever. It will be like playing hot potato until they release them again permanently through the alchemy system or something. lol

Actually, if I dont receive any offers by the time my good friend is done with his current 7x project, it'll be put to use. So I'm just going to keep it in the shop window for a month or so till he's done.

i think you'll get an offer you can't refuse, and then THAT person will hold an auction, and then THAT person will sell it outright, to a person that will hold an auction....
THE WHOLE WORLD HAS GONE MAD!

Haha, definite possibility, especially since the last person made 16+ mill from the last auction, and I wouldnt need near that much to turn my head

Personally I think it's cheaper and safer to Premium point something. Imagine if you fail, not only are you out the cost of the potion, but potentially the item.

I won't argue that.
For me, it was considerably cheaper than premium points, since I won it in a raffle. So the most value is probably for me to use it.
4000 premium points = 13 to 15 mill
13 to 15 million = More than it would cost to buy it from me
We could argue the cost of premium points, but its not that big a deal to me. I'm just putting it out there if someone wants it. With only 3% chance of failure. I think 97/100 odds is worth saving a few million. Plus, some people enjoy the fact that they have one of the few player enchanted weapons over 7x since the changeover.

thats the same concern with any enchanting project though, and there would be a certain pride with with being the wizard to do it. I doubt the project is significantly more difficult than a typical 7x enchant, so i'd assume any competent wizard enchanting 7x projects probably has (or is very close to the 3% floor failure rate. Thats quite manageable.
and yeah...turning a 100k or 150k raffle win into 16m is pretty nice.

Whilst I agree with the fact that premium points certainly cost more than the potion is worth... I would point out the "worth" of the enchanters time. Considering the cost (in time lost not doing a 6-7x enchant plus two or so weeks) of doing a 7-8x enchant in use of a wizard.
So in reality the potion is worth the premium enchant cost minus the wizard time cost, minus the 3% failure (say 3% value?), plus "uniqueness" factor.
... how many of these potions went out? Did four go out? Is it possible if all four 8x enchants go perfect for someone to make a fifth 8x enchant off the remaining pours?

I believe 2 were raffled off and 3 were found during the quest. But I'm not 100% on the number found during the quest (3-8x, 2-9x, and 1-10x during the quest from my understanding).
So I think there should be 5 out there, giving a pretty good possibility for an extra 8x enchant from the remaining pours.
That was a good catch Celephais, and I imagine not something a lot of people have considered.

Just keep in mind, with high enough rolls, tempering even armor will take one pour.
My halfling wizard enchanting mithglin full plate has been getting 1 pour tempers since the change, and that's like the least favorable pouring conditions. It seems everything over a 300 roll is getting 1 pour.

My enchanters are getting 1 pour with 200+ end rolls, and they're nowhere near built for enchanting, nor are either of them over 60 trains

You mean that it only uses one pour "charge" from the potion, not just "one pour/cast". I have noticed that change too, was wondering why all the sudden I saw "one pour remaining" from my potion when i was expecting a shatter.

Are you guys saying one pour can last more than one temper/cast now? I haven't been paying THAT much attention to my small projects.
Donquix
11-19-2007, 02:15 PM
it should be 1 pour per temper cycle now for armor, no matter what the circumstances or endroll.
TheEschaton
11-19-2007, 02:20 PM
No, it usually takes 2 doses for armor, now all of a sudden it's taking 1. I thought it was a change, and that skilled wizards were only using up 1 dose per temper even on large armors, but apparently it's an across the board change?
I've not rolled below a 300 in a long time, personally, so I have no idea. But if you're rolling 200s and only using 1 dose, I'd say it'd probably have to be universal.
I guess I can remove my armor surcharge now.

I knew they changed it, I just thought it was 2-doses-but-if-you're-skilled-1, not all out 1 for everyone. :P

Err... I know I saw his post..or someone in red saying it can take one now. It wasn't in the enchanting folder, though, as I just looked there.

>get pot
You pick up a duqnuru potion.
>measure my pot
The duqnuru potion has 2 doses left.
>pour pot on my leather
You pour your potion on the leather.
1d100: 82 + Modifiers: 269 == 351
As the liquid coats the surface of the white leather, a misty aura fills the air surrounding it, dancing around your fingers as you gesture over it with a soft incantation spilling from your lips. Small runic symbols flare to life at various points along the surface of the leather, their blurry edges wavering in response to the cadence of your voice and the liquid in these areas absorbing quickly beneath the surface. When the last of the liquid has vanished, the symbols dissipate and the leather appears faded. You scrutinize the white leather, notice nothing amiss, and conclude that the tempering seems to have been successful. You estimate that the white leather should be ready to enchant in about 1 to 2 days.
Roundtime: 60 sec.
You only have one dose left.
I have bugged in game, was this a intended change? if so it will save some coins on potions that is for sure.

Thanks, Donquix. I did a search on his SN, and likely glanced over that response. Naos's posting format sucks at times.

I've enchanted plenty of plate myself. There are plenty of other factors in it besides weight.
Also, most plate worth enchanting is lighter than 70 lbs.

Two 8x potions, one 9x potion, and one 10x potion were raffled, to my knowledge. Two more 8x potions and a 9x potion were found in Nigrimi's lab during the course of the quest. Minus the pour from Tsin's fuckup, that'd be 13 pours left over, assuming nobody blew it.

Am I counting wrong... or do the 9/10 have more than 10 pours?
two 8x 10pours = 4 leftover
one 9x 10pours = 1 leftover
two 8x 10pours = 4 leftover
one 9x 10pours = 1 leftover
10 pre-fuckup by my count.

There were three 8x, two 9x and one 10x... I sold the 10x to Katara cause I think she has an 8x one too and wanted to try and get all three.. They all have two extra pours in each.

There are at least 4 bromin (8x) potions. Checking my logs, there was one raffle with two winners, and two more went out in the storyline.

and then what about the 9x, 10x potions? i ASSUME these work like other enchanting potions in so much as they will temper anything 8x and under, 9x and under, etc.

if so thats an extra....13 pours floating for an 8x project.

I imagine the 9x are 11 pours, and 10x are 12 pours, to allow 2 goof-ups, same concept as the 8x having 10

... is it? So really the only leftover dregs of use right now would be the 8x potions, as there would be enough leftovers for another 8x enchant.
