I don't know how many of you read or are familiar with Parade Magazine, but an article appeared in it today that mentioned GS. While it did not contain a web address for interested readers to visit the play.net website, it was still an interesting reading and I'm sure many of us can at least identify with the sentiments portrayed. Maybe someone here knows the men who are mentioned?

Interesting article.

It kind of touches base on something I've been thinking about with regards to the Gemstone market, spefically the subscriber age demographic base.

Its almost as if the subscriber average age has increased since the release of graphical MMORPG's when a lot of the younger generation (that are primarily graphic driven for entertainment) moved onto the games like EQ, WoW, etc.

Sometimes you cant tell it by how idiotic the population in game acts sometimes; however, for the most part it seems to ring true.

Now add that with Simutronics billing philosophy and its something that appears to have already been considered.

For adults, the current billing scheme isnt an issue, it would be considered part of discretionary expenditure or another facet of their entertainment budget. For kids, who are reliant upon parental income for expenditures, it would be a different story (unless its the only subscription/entertainment the child has).

This article seems to highlight a social factor that the game represents to the adult population moreso than just being another kids computer game.
