I've been hunting krolvin corsairs and krolvin slavers for eight levels or so, and had gotten to the point where I was generally killing them in one hit.

Today, I went hunting for the first time in several weeks, and found I couldn't even hit them.

Did I miss a critter level tweak or something?

They turtle until they swing. Is this what you're encountering?

No.

Sure. For the record, she's level 38; according to the bestiary, slavers should be level 36 and corsairs level 38.

Your AS is weak for 38. Look at raising that to start with.

Outside of someone buffing them with spells, go back to your old logs and see if the DS they are putting up matches any stances that you were sure would be in line with them in defensive. Perhaps that room had a spirit fog, or darkness effect going on, both give +30 to DS, and can generate randomly.

In the meanwhile, perhaps get a feras weapon and try for a lucky blow.

There's like a 40+ DS gain for both parties in the Cargo Hold. If you kill stuff right outside the Moor, you have a brighter room.

I've found also that a lot of critters in River's Rest sometimes "shift" gear.

For instance, the large ogres and greater orcs out by the citadel sometimes gen with lower-end (breastplates) armor, and then a few weeks later then start genning with higher-end (brig or chain) armor.

I believe the krolvin mercs, warriors, and warfarers do this too. (The warfarers sometimes gen with claidh's, and other times gen with sword/board configs.) I've hunted the slavers/corsairs, but not enough to know if they're on the same system.

(If I remember right, the switch usually happens at the same time the pawnshop table reverse themselves... so if the misc table is first, and it switches, it's in the last place afterwards.)

All krolvin in general went BCS a few months ago. So if its been a few months, you could be experiencing that. Also, for level 38, your AS is a bit low, at level 40 I was well over 300.

Corsair level is sort of similar to spectral warriors in that the highest level corsairs will always gen with chain, similarly to how the highest level spectral warriors will always gen with half plate.
