I started a bunch of characters with rogue and wizard but i liked the feel of the sorcerer the best. but is it possible to use a sword with a sorcerer as his main attack maybe with the help of spells? I never got above level 14 with my two original characters so if you got any advice on a sword sorcerer above those levels that would be great. Type of stats and skill training would be nice too.

After you're done being accused of being Backlash you will realize that while sorcs are capable of using a sword, they're not the best class to mutate into a sword user, they don't have any spells that can really make up for the lack of 2x OHE.

Being able to disable creatures will be nice, and the extra AS from 425 & 117 will also be nice but they won't really come into their own for much later. The 5 second RT you will experience won't be easily offset by haste as a wizard would have... if you want a physical sorc look up archer sorcs, but that's going to be difficult mid-level.

Any class can make it to 20+ sword/board, but eventually you'll want to start relying on your spells as a sorc.

I was thinking i can use a sword as RP. the mob will die to my spells for the most part and then i finish with sword. Is sword and shield the best weapon combo or can i go twohanded. I have a nodachi sitting around which fits my character.

From a defensive standpoint S/B is perfectly viable over runestaff, infact you'll have more DS, just less TPs.

Two-handed DS is less than S/B, it's doable but later on a disarm will leave you wide open.

Another option would be brawl/shield which will result in the same DS as sword/shield but lets you sheathe your brawling weapon and cast open handed, which for a sorc can be quite powerful.

They are all doable options, and you can just play around in the mangler for a while during the 30 day migration to find the right training path.

I would suggest finding all the 509, 606, 211, 307, and 215 scrolls you can get your hands on for later levels. 1617 would also be a good idea if your DS can handle it. COL is definitely the society for you as well.

I considered this build once upon a time.

If you're refering to mine, it is a drawing Tymelorde's player did some time back. This was only a sketch, but it is definitely one of my favorites. However, when shrunk for the PC it looks like Evarin is smirking, which isn't the case at all in the full-sized picture.

Unfortunately, I do not think Tymelorde is taking comissions anymore, else I would plug his site and what not.

HAH. No. He certainly wasn't. The avatars didn't load correctly on the first go. Yay Vampire Hunter D!

The 2-handed route isn't very viable due to DS loss, unfortunately. Even with pretty fantastic gear it will be trouble, and warding will be difficult. Who knows though. Homeboy Celtar would never stop talking about his Sorrow-wielding sorcerer. Or is that an answer in itself?

huh I was really looking forward to using my nodachi too. What kind of DS difference is there between runestaff, brawling, and shield and sword sorcerer? Plus do you get a bonus if you have two hands free instead of one?

Two handed isn't terrible viable. The points are just way too huge AND you need to get dodge...which costs more than shield.

Just running a sword and shield is fine though as is obviously runestaff. Sometimes you even come out with a bit more DS with sword and shield.

Having two hands free grants some channeling bonuses...easy enough to just put away a runestaff or sword and shield while you channel however...rather than pay for brawling or brawling/shield.
