As its eyes dim, so does the hellish image, fading back into your normal surroundings.

You feel the blood leave your face as, once more, images seep from the pendant and grow more insistent and demanding. You find yourself standing in a place dark and dangerous, with steaming fissures and hellish spouts of magma. Standing before the visage of everything evil you've ever imagined, you watch as drops of liquid poison form, changing from horror into beauty as the viscous goo embraces a pile of sparkling rubies. Without explanation, you know that this pairing not only gives life, but takes it as well. As you shudder with such a near proximity to death itself, the vision fades away.

I would say one reason some stuff doesn't change hands is that it would be nerfed if it ever saw the light of day.

Having the list published would do the same thing as attempting to sell them. It's not like these forums are secret or anything, GM's would find out and they would be nerfed just the same. I agree with you that it would be cool to see, and possible even be able to play around with them, but I'd much rather those select few get to use them so that they don't get nerfed. Although people could easily put out a list of items that have already been nerfed and just talk about there original properties, sort of like the Legendary Weapons section on the officials.

Marty and Paul have both told me there is absolutely no compensation whatsoever for nerfing items.

I've been hit with the nerf stick to know, as I'm sure others have as well.

Whether certain individuals have gotten compensation for their nerfs, I don't know. I do know that despite my bitching, moaning, and general bleeding from the anus, I didn't see a fucking thing in return.

Yeah cause Marty is so nice and always gives you a months notice before he nerfs your stuff.. YEAH RIGHT. If they decide something is unbalancing they will just nerf it without telling you.. Then if you complain they can decide if it was fixing a bug which gets no compensation or that the item was just overpowered for the current game and some compensation is allowed. Nothing i'm selling is even close to unbalancing enough to be nerfed or they would have done it already.

Besides why would anyone put stuff in the public spotlight if they thought it might get nerfed? Your only chance of keeping something like that is if you hide it away.. You'd have to be the dumbest person ever to put it on the boards for everyone to see if you thought there was a chance of it being nerfed.

By the way Gnimble each case is unique when it comes to nerfs so there is no universal rule for compensations.. The reason you weren't given compensation was because it was a mechanics change to crossbows and all of them were changed. You are lucky cause it could have been a lot worse. I had the zero roundtime blade for just over 2 years which gave no roundtime for TWC if it was in the left hand. That was changed on me without even a single word and was told it was a bug and too bad.

Then again there have been things like Estrion's key that was nerfed while I owned it and compensation was given. They just decided it was too overpowered when I was going from Wayside to OTF to rescue someone and then back to Wayside again in under a minute. When that happens they ask you what you want but if you ask for impossible things they get pissed. Trust me I know.

I ended up getting my 63m debt for Tsin in landing erased off my record and an enchant added to Sagan's executioners sword. Did it make up for the loss of cross realms travel to anywhere else but landing? No way. But at least it was something.

Then again compensations can be good things too. The crystal ball was nerfed a little while after I sold it to Katara cause of excessive use. Her compensation was she got to build a MANSION in Illistim that is easily worth half a billion all by itself. In my opinion and hers it was totally worth it.

I know Avantos had a ton of crap in his shop for a long long time, and some of it was either sold or pulled from the shop. This was long before he got fired.

So some of that gear your seeing may have made its way out of his hands previously.

Though I don't know if his 'most awesome' stuff was in the shop or not, but plenty of items for 100m+ from what I recall.

Plus wasn't he part of a big enchanting group when you had to infuse? I am sure he got a lot of his gear legitimately back in the old days. How long has he actually been around in Gemstone? I am pretty sure he was around before I started in 2000.

I'm relatively certain when a person becomes SIMU staff they are required to sign something saying they won't sell their items for money or silvers.

Basically, remove the items from the game.

What I'm not sure about is when a GM gets removed such as in Paul's case. I would imagine it's all fair game at that point.

Im not sure how things work now but I think gamehosts used to get points for how much they worked that they could convert to items kind of like how premium points work now and it was pretty much do whatever the hell you want with the items they made. So I can only imagine how many points they would have to give a software engineer to work for nothing.

Why of course they could do such a thing, AD! It's Simu's game, and they could very easily penalize/restrict anyone for/from anything, if they decided to.

There is no way they could make you sign something that says you can't sell items for silvers that you gained as a player.

Perhaps not as a player, but they most definitely can control all of the accounts of their employees and sift through the items upon departure to weed out ANY items that they deem to 'unbalance' the game. I can see how they could term all of the black ora items that Avantos had as 'unbalancing' and keep them from being recirculated. Also, we all know that GM's do create items for their characters that are borderline illegal. Those items can be nerfed as well. The terms of service for Simu state that all items in game are the intellectual property of Simu and they can and do control them as they see fit.

Let's face it, Simu has the right to completely lock out any account for any reason they want to. In the case of a GM that leaves on bad terms, they can and do lock out accounts permanently.
