Is it just me or do I have at least 45 minutes to go hit the watering hole all the sudden.
How did I forget about this.

Heh, I was just wondering wtf was going on with my computer.
It went back an hour, but my atomic clock was still the same... Went looking for the time zones wondering if it was daylight savings etc.. and it said Nov 4th..
Why was it changed?

wouldn't it stay lighter out for halloween if we did actually change this weekend?
No, because it would be getting dark at the same rate, only an hour earlier than before, heh.

that doesn't make much sense... I'm still new to this time changing thing. I live in an area that up until a year or so ago we never changed our clocks. So ok.. if it's 2:30 here now, we move back so it'd be.. 1:30?

Hate DST. Now it'll be dark when I leave for work AND when I leave for home.

It started out along time ago to help the farmers SEED the fall crops. It gave them an extra hour in the a.m. to do this.
We don't need to do this anymore. I wish they would just set it back thirty minutes and leave it alone forever.
A couple of years ago my state rep wanted to hold DST untill the end of November they almost voted on it in Washington D.C., but the Jewish community made a stink about that.
Said it had something to do with prayer and dinner times getting all mixed up.
I don't know....

Lawmakers limit extension of daylight time
More weeks of DST would complicate flights, school plans, Jewish prayers

Evidently this year the US wanted a few extra weeks of DST, so they jumped forward about 2 weeks early and are changing back a week later.
Something about reduced oil consumption. That one i don't understand.

It started out along time ago to help the farmers SEED the fall crops. It gave them an extra hour in the a.m. to do this.
Ben Franklin conceived the concept (read An Economical Project), Willet advocated in Britain later in his life ... the Germans adopted it, the Brits followed and we rumbled about it until after WW1 in 1918 ... 3 years after the rest of the civilized world.
It's been blamed on farmers and the railroad alike, but has to do with neither.
It doesn't matter what the clock says to farmers, never has except when it comes to dealing with businesses that operate on a time frame. I don't believe there has been a farmer in existence that has said "7pm, time to quit." "But Pa, it's still light out." "7pm you mouthy bastard ... put away the plow and hitch the mule."
We don't need to do this anymore. I wish they would just set it back thirty minutes and leave it alone forever.
Daylight savings is a conservation method. "Saving" daylight, or rather placing daylight in the timeframe in which most people work and wind down before sleeping saves energy via reducing the necessity to flip the light switch.
A couple of years ago my state rep wanted to hold DST untill the end of November they almost voted on it in Washington D.C., but the Jewish community made a stink about that.
Religion should never be considered when it comes to the greater community or laws that govern them. Though I fail to see why a Jewish community made any stink about it considering that, like farmers, the time the clock indicates matters less than the time of day the sun, or lack of it, indicates.

It changes my leisure fishing schedule!
Seriously tho it's good for my kids as well as far as time at the park.
As for the electricity consumption my Janet Reno mode is kicking ass. Two months into it.. the bill $200 cheaper now. Down to $206 from $400.
November is going to be awesome.
P.s. my wife hates "Janet Reno" mode. That's another plus side... she doesn't hang out at the house as much anymore.
