a carved rowan runestaff
Small, flying eagles have been carved along the length of this runestaff, and they spiral their way from the top to the bottom in a twisting, geometric pattern. The head of this staff is made from a massive, uncut ruby which has been polished into a perfectly round ball. Set in gold, the gem sits upon the top of the staff like a large, ripe rowan berry. You also notice a small enchanter's glyph.

Self mana 916
When you hold the runestaff in your hand you can PREP and CAST the spell like it's part of your spell circle. When you do a SPELL ALL it shows 916 in wizard base spells no matter what profession you are.
You MUST be 30 trainings and have the minimal amount of MIU to use this staff

Careful examination indicates the rowan runestaff has a base strength of 25 and a base durability of 290. You also determine the current integrity of the rowan runestaff to be at 100.0%.

After a careful inspection you determine that a carved rowan runestaff requires skill in twohanded weapons to use effectively. It appears to be a modified rune staff.

Gothique raises her rowan runestaff and jabs it forward, gesturing forcefully.
Gothique pulls her rowan runestaff close to her chest, clutching it like a young sorcerer with his last wand.
Gothique slaps her rowan runestaff smartly against her leg.
Gothique raises her rowan runestaff in triumph!
Gothique idly taps the tip of her rowan runestaff upon the ground.
Gothique spins the base of her rowan runestaff in her hand, balancing it upon a fingertip.
Gothique makes a grand, sweeping gesture with her rowan runestaff.

Lore Song
As you sing, you feel a faint resonating vibration from the rowan runestaff in your hand, and you learn something about it...

The first thing that strikes you about the runestaff is the weight, which is about 4 pounds. In your best estimation, it's worth about 22,400,000 silvers.

As you sing, you feel a faint resonating vibration from the rowan runestaff in your hand, and you learn something about it...

You sense a faint aura of magic around the rowan runestaff. From the pitch of the vibration you determine that the purpose of the runestaff is as some type of weapon. Also, it seems to have some sort of enhancive properties.

As you sing, you feel a faint resonating vibration from the rowan runestaff in your hand...

It has a bonus of +20 from a normal runestaff, and the way it vibrates in tune with your voice tells you that it requires skill in twohanded weapons to use effectively.
The runestaff resonates with your voice, indicating that it enhances its owner in the following ways:
It provides a bonus to Mana Recovery.
This enhancement may not be used by adventurers who have not trained 30 times.
It provides a bonus to Sorcerous Lore - Demonology Ranks.
It provides a bonus to Sorcerous Lore - Necromancy Ranks.
Imparts knowledge of a spell from the Elemental sphere.
This enhancement cannot be used by adventurers without at least a minimal amount of skill in Magic Item Use.
This item may not be used by adventurers who have not trained 30 times.
You think that you could probably find out something more about the runestaff's enhancive properties if you tried.

50m seems a bit high to me. Neat item and all - but its level restricted. Skill restricted. And you can get the spell on scrolls, in imbeds, wizards can still imbed it.. You can buy the spell from the magic shops still cant ya?

So what would you suggest?

You can not however, buy the enhancements on a scroll. Every merchant I've talked to has priced this in the 45-60m range.

It's also bad assed to be an empath and PREP and cast 916. Scrolls and imbeds don't give you the knowledge of the spell.

Gothique traces a series of glowing runes while chanting an arcane phrase...
Gothique gestures.
Gothique suddenly disappears.

You can probably get it. I just wouldn't value it that high myself.

Cool item, but um, buy a wizard, it's cheaper. :duck:

I would get it for my Fiance'e or Finiswolf just cause, but I don't have any coin anymore. O well. :-)

Are you positive it's further enchantable? I was under the impression that enhancives prevented further enchanting.

She most likely meant via premium points. :)

The self-mana brig goes for 50m or so, why shouldn't the self-mana runestaff? It even has extra perks.

Items that actually IMPART the knowledge of the spell are pretty rare. Self mana items you rub them and it's like rubbing a small statue, the spell is just cast. This staff allows you to PREP the spell as if it were in your own spell circle.

And as far as the age restriction... If you have 50m coins at level 30 that makes me a very sad girl. I havn't sold much of anything in the 13 years I've been playing and it took me this long to make (I estimate) about 100m.

Self mana vs impart the knowledge is a bigger deal if it's something you can get alternate bonuses from/cast different (Imparting 704 is WAY better than self-mana 704), I don't know what good being able to prep/cast is vs rubbing for 916... infact isn't it a disadvantage? If it's self-mana it uses MIU to determine duration, if it's impart the knowledge does it use 900 ranks? (although 20 mins per cast is enough).

And you didn't make a comment about further enchantable... you meant through premium points right?

50m is a fair price for it.

Yes through PP's or by merchant. Sorry I didn't think to specify that.

Gothique's singled in MIU and she gets a 20 minute duration.

I want a super secret Grand Auction item that would impart knowledge, of like, a whole spell circle up to the 20th level.

Can you imagine a sorc with knowledge of, say, the wizard base circle. Hotness.

My favorite part about it was the strange looks people give you when they KNOW you're an empath but you can cast invisibility at will.

I had it recharged once. I used it easilly over 200 times and it still read as innumerable charges even after that many casts.

Of all circles you chose the wizard base? Clearly you don't play a wizard... MjE is MASSIVELY greater than Wiz.

Imagine a sorc with... (excluding "reasonable" scrollables.. 503/507/508/509/511)
Haste
Elemental Focus (and 510 or 505 to bolt with)
Rapid Fire!!!
Mana Leech
Cone of Lightning
Immolate
Stone Skin

The brig is also armor, you cant lose it to disarm, you dont run out of charges or have to charge it, and its padded, and you can change the padding with PPs..

They might be worth the same for different reasons, but I always thought the brig was overpriced as well. Ever notice no one really keeps it very long? And when they have you don't see em going around usin it all the time. Its just one of those over priced nifty items that people over pay too much for.

Anyhow I am sure whoever buys this will have fun with it no matter how much they spend.

The enhancive preps are really cool since you can just recharge them with BP so technically they last just as long. Most of them are also ones you hold in your hand, except maybe that 906 armor which is also good. There are two sets of self mana inviso brig, self mana helm and self mana golvern bracers that Khal had. The only good thing about self mana items compared to enhancive preps is the issue of hinderance. When you gotta prep and cast it you have to worry about your armor hinderance. The enhancives are single mana and all of the self mana are double mana with chance of curse so the enhancives are better for that.

What do you mean by "double mana"? Only takes 16 mana for me to cast 916 using the runestaff

Warriorbird

He's talking about second run self mana items. They're double mana. Yours isn't.
