I just moved bases here in Iraq, and I'm trying to get into GS but am having some issues. The computers will not open up either Wizard or SF and I cannot install the desktop entry because the computers will not allow anything to be installed, I also tried installing it to a thumb drive that I plugged in and that won't work either. Then when I try EScape it opens up the window, starts to load the game, says "Connecting..." in the game window, and something along the lines of "Applett window _____" in the bottom left hand corner of the window, and then basically freezes. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas, it would be a big help.

Thanks
-Matt

Stop trying to use EScape... it needs the Java thing the Microshaft isn't supporting anymore and doesn't have in Internet Explorer (and the Sun Java package thing doesn't work).

Also, Simu doesn't support EScape anymore, so don't try posting to the officials about it: you won't get any (helpful) answers.

Damn, I think I'm out of luck then. Thanks for the help though.

can you not have your own laptop over there?

Even if you could get the game installed, it would be quite likely the ports would be blocked.

You could always play via telnet.

I have my own laptop, but there isn't a way for me to hook it up to the internet here. They don't allow us to plug in our own computers. It's gay.

If the desktops will not allow anything to be installed, then you are out of luck, as both the wizard and SF will need the launcher installed, plus their own respective front end files.

You could try downloading the files onto a thumb drive and then copying them over, since technically that's not "installing", but I'm no expert. They definitely won't run from a thumb drive since the website looks for the files on the C:

Yea, I tried the thumb drive idea and it didn't work either. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I'm out of luck, but my deployment is almost over so I'm not worried about it.

Thanks for all the help everyone.

p.s. It may be don't ask, don't tell, but a lot of the rules are pretty damn gay.
