About the only hardware of actual (resale) value is the LCD screen... what size laptop is it?

If you've got "gangsta skillz" you could part it on ebay for more than you would likely get for the whole thing... I'm reluctant to name a price because I'd likely be way off... laptop aftermarkets are shit.

Looks like a dell 51xx series to me. The uxga screens on those were quite nice, at 1600x1280 rez.

So, what is a reasonable price to ask for it?

What's the most you would pay for it?

Shot in the dark... $350? Sadly despite having what would have been a top of the line CPU, it doesn't add too much to the value right now.

Laptop resale is definitely a shit market, I'd say somewhere in the range of $250-$350. Depending on condition.

Dell Outlet has machines that are currently outspecing that for 350 with 1yr warranty so not entirely sure if I'd price it past the 250 mark.

The graphics card is the lower end model. The upper end for those machines was a radeon 9000 base. So if people are replacing parts (which is where you'd get your buyers on a piece-by-piece basis), they'll take the better option. Same with the screen. The processor is a nice model, but it's power hungry, and drains the battery. Someone might buy it though- check ebay with the model number and such and check sales volume.

It's extremely power hungry... it eats through a battery in about an hour.

Another issue I'm having is that it gets very hot after running for awhile, and the fan seems to never stop.

The final issue is that when I play desktop tower defense, the screen will start to lag and it doesn't freeze up completely, but it goes extremely slow.

I had to replace the hard drive after the first one went bad, and ever since, I've been having the issues I listed above. Which makes me want to sell it to buy something that will do what I want it to do without problems.

Anyone have any hints on what I could try to do to fix the above issues? I didn't have the desktop tower defense problem until after I replaced the hard drive. It has unfortunately always gotten hot after running for awhile, I think it was actually a product defect.

Oh, one other thing I forgot to mention, while playing desktop tower defense, the CPU goes to 100% and it runs slow... but if I toggle over to another window, so that it's "in front" of the desktop tower defense page, it runs smoothly.

Any help is very appreciated, and thanks for the responses about the price!
