Hello all, I haven't played Gemstone in years and I've been thinking about coming back. I played a gnome locksmith my last time around, and the next character I was thinking about was a thief. I was told that the steal skill was very unbalanced/broken/nurfed/etc back then, and I'm wondering if this is still the case.

Stealing one on one is very difficult to do for any length of time without a ton of skill. You must try to steal while in a crowd. Pulls are limited now in coins a great deal, but you can target gems and some magical trinkets, as well as herbs. In overall power, the skill has been nerfed, but it has been given more complexity.

Thanks, Fallen. When you say a ton of skill, do you mean in comparison to the mark, or just in general? I don't want to have to "grind" for weeks just to be able to steal from people hunting rats in the catacombs.

I've been bouncing around from forum to forum and god damn, i've forgotten basically the entire GS system. What's a good reference to basically start over with?

Yeah, that's mainly what I've been doing. I have started logging my locksmith in again though... It seems the mechanic for picking is different than it was... Anyone know what the actual roll consists of now? I hear wisdom is involved.

Wasn't the the old stat? I think it's agi/dex now.

The Skill Manager mentions Wisdom in the description. Could be the site is just outdated lol.
