The Empath Spell 1101 (Heal) can now be used as an attack spell if cast AT a target. You can INCANT it as an attack spell, but not as a self-cast healing spell.

This was released tonight in the scarab king storyline currently taking place in Ta'Illistim.

WTF, how stupid is that? You can't incant a healing spell to heal?

Retards....

As a general rule, I never incant 1101. Incanting only heals 10 HP and is subject to armor hindrances, while cure can heal a ton more HP and bypasses hindrances. I don't see this as affecting things that much at all.

Hmmm, need some PSINET changes, as incant 1101 automatically preps/cures.

Well, this was one of empath's biggest complaints, the no low level hunting spell. Now they have that. Soon, their inability to hit certain targets will be gone as well. All they will lack then is a strong, quick maneuver attack and they will be easily on par as the best hunting pure class.

No physical damage attack spell = hawtness.

Or you could type "blood" and not be an idiot.

Here is the first ever cast of the spell:

Sconius gestures at a giant fog beetle.
CS: +560 - TD: +109 + CvA: +25 + d100: +11 == +487
Warding failed!
A brief tremor ripples across the beetle's shell, leaving a faint beading of scarlet in its wake.
... 65 points of damage!
The giant fog beetle slowly comes back to consciousness.

487 endroll = 65 damage? Weak.

However, options = good.

I'm all for it.

I think it does more damage than that, but you only see 65 damage done.

I had a friend use it on a low level (12th level) empath and it's a fairly weak spell but I like it anyway, I think it's great that the low level empaths have a spell they can use right off the turnip truck practically. Maybe it does internal damage, not sure but it still took 10 casts to kill a lynx for a 12 level empath.. not sure how exciting that is, however it would have probably taken at least 3 casts of 1106 (bone shatter) to kill it so over all less mana, just more time.

It took me like 5 or 6 casts to kill a black forest ogre, around 50 blood a pop, at a like level. It seems that's less than its normal HP?

wow! i've been totally struggling with my empath from 6-10 trains cause they can't hit for shit and the only attack spell is 1/3 of my mana with only 60% chance to hit. I can't wait to get home and try this out.

Hell, even at level 20, I have problems getting my mind to even half full...this will be so nice.

I replied the same thing in another thread without seeing yours... my first thought too. This is pretty ridiculous.

Im just glad that my Empath can A) do damage to shit without bones and not require Spell Aiming to do so and B) not destroy the quality of a hide while killing.

I just wanted to let every one know that something seems to be going on with the spell Heal. When casting it in Sancted areas the area is treating it like a spell of war.

My guess is that you tried to INCANT the spell in a sanctuary. Incant will auto-target when a spell is offensive, thus it halted your attempt. You can still cast Heal in a sanctuary, but you must use CAST (with no target). I have a pending update which should mimic the previous incant version.

RAFFELS2
It's been changed (temporarily, one assumes) for the scarab lord quest. If you cast it at something, you'll find that it currently is a spell of war.

Heal/Harm (1101) is here to stay. I have postponed the official announcement until I'm ready to release the details for all the pending changes.

I can't be the only one who thought "Harm? That should be an AoE attack vs. undead."
