I have a higher end backsword, but am wondering if it's not that great. AvDs and DF seem ok, the puncture isn't great, but I was wondering when I might be able to start aiming it properly. Im a rogue, at 18 right now, I'm doubling in ambush, perception, and cm. Was wondering about hiding and from the open. Thanks if anyone responds! Or, is there a table that shows "aimability" anywhere? - give a man a fish...teach a man to fish etc... :thanx:

Give yourself time. As your ambush ranks increase, you will find yourself much better with it.

There's no table, it takes time. Shortswords(backswords) are crap until you get to later trains as far as crits go. Seems like your training is fine, get a falchion or an axe and you'll be cleaving like you want to.

Daggers and short swords are a pain at lower trains.

Yeah, unless your backsword is REALLY great, a falchion or handaxe will probably be better.

alright, thanks for the info so fast, would I be better off swinging a simple 4x flaring falchion/handaxe then? the backsword is 6x decently crit weighted.

I hope you're not implying that a backsword and shortsword are the same base, because they're not. Backswords are slower (5 second base, like falchions and handaxes), and have higher DF's than shortswords. Backswords and handaxes have similar DF's, save for scale and plate.

You're muuuuuch better off with the 6x backsword. Aimed shots or not.

And Izzy is right, there's a huge difference between a backsword and a short sword. You might want to "inspect" the item to see what it is...

Yes, it truly is backsword based, thank you again.
