Warning, some reading follows, and is intended for those who have nothing better to do, if you have something better to do...go do it

Here's my story:

I'm driving home on a dirt road at night in my 2000 intrepid (70,000 miles, good condition) with a friend in the car (we're both 16). It's all good, going about 35-40mph, listening to the radio, until out of nowhere something appears in the road (remember this is a dirt road and its dark out). My first instinct is to swerve (which is what you're not supposed do) and then I lose control, and go into the ditch.

After a few ...."select words" and sitting there for a sec taking in what had just happened, we get out to survey the damage. The whole front fender is all messed up [scratched, dented, and ...hanging off of the car] and there's a liquid leaking out on the ground. At this point...I realize I'm screwed (I'm 16...my dad is going to kill me). I get in the car and somehow manage to get it out of the ditch, and drive home...and think for a while.

I've learned a few things (silver lining) and also learned something, and that is: Modern day cars are super shitty when it comes to quality...and fenders are a rippoff.

Well there's my story...I felt that I had to share it with everyone...lol, feel free to add your own incidents if you've had any.

Sorry about your accident. Good thing is that you and your friend are both alright. I have to agree with you about cars being super shitty these days. I hit a dog on the freeway once. I was doing 70 and this dog just came out of nowhere. I swerved like you did, and the dog stopped. Just when I thought everything was going to be alright, he jumped right in front of me. I think I'll never forget the sound. Anyways, 1200 in damage to my car, bumper, fender, windshield fluid reservoir and motor and the worst part is that the dog wasn't killed right away but had to suffer until the state patrol came and called someone in to euthanize him. At least with older cars made out of metal and not fiberglass, the dog would have been killed outright and not been in pain for so long.

One of the main reasons that cars starting being built the way they are is for your safety. Crash test show that when the car is a big steel boat and can plow through a brick wall without getting a dent, the people in the car become more injured, than if the car were designed to crumple and absorb most of that energy while delaying the time it takes your face to go through the windshield. Besides, it also saves on gas...

To quote Rod, The Anime God:

"I can clear all this up with a low 8.9% APR financing on a 30 year mortgage with no down payment. And if you, you buy my tickets, then I'll do this."

When's the next season of Perfect Hair Forever supposed to air? That show kicked ass.

Totally unrelated, but I wish sometimes that I could understand Stanley without having to hurt my brain. :( (That's not meant to be mean, Stanley, you are just on a level sometimes that I can't get with. )

No it's fine, I was/am really hoping someone'll get my super obscure Perfect Hair Forever reference.

If I can make one person connect with me on an obscure reference it kicks fucking ass, especially when it's one of my favorite Anime cartoons. Or video games.
