I need suggestions on kids books to send as Christmas presents for two boys, ages 7 and 9. The older one reads way above his level and has read the HP books, Eragon, and LOTR. He really likes Dragons, so I'm kinda thinking the DragonLance series, but am worried that it might not be age appropriate. The younger one doesn't read as well, is not interested in dragons, and I'm not sure what he is particularly interested in.

Any suggestions?

Kids who read like that usually have a list of books they would like. Ask the parents.

The Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede were REALLY GOOD when I was around that age. They have dragons in them, and they're really fun reads. I think there are 4 in the series. At least 4.

The Giver by Lois Lowry

Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt

The Dangerous Book For Boys

Gave it to my younger cousin and he loves it- has all sorts of cool stuff in it, might be something the older boy enjoys!

Get them a gift card.

Solves the problem of age appropriate (Parent can choose) and likes (kid can choose).

If you think that's impersonal, write up a nice note and stick it in the card and envelope.

I used to always read this book called Rocket Mouse in elementary school. I don't remember anything about it, but I remember it ruled back then.

If that doesn't work, give them a copy of Penthouse.

I have a just-turned-10 year old cousin who was browsing these things like ancient doctrine of Hardy Boys. of Auld. There was a hefty bookpile, too.

They also don't invoke Satan's incarnation like that Rowling chickenscratch.

I don't see a receipt in his hand. It's obviously he stole it.
