Firefighters: PA couple saves dogs and pot, leaves boy
Seems the police knocked on their door, informing them the house next door was on fire and theirs would be next. The couple got their dogs, and their pot, but forgot to take the kid with them when they evacuated. About twenty minutes later, after repeatedly being asked if there was anyone else in the house, the dad remembered his four year old son was still inside. The poor kid was rescued and hospitalized for smoke inhalation, and is going to be alright, but sheesh! It's beyond me how they could just forget the boy was there. They didn't even have the excuse of an immediate threat where they had to flee for their lives in a blind panic, not that that could really justify forgetting the kid either. Even after they were out and safe, they didn't remember him being there until firefighters told them they knew a boy lived with them.
Police said the firefighters learned that the boy was still inside the burning mobile home when Chandler and Adams told firefighters that they had forgotten the child. Police said that was about 20 minutes after the couple had gotten out.
"They were asked numerous times by law enforcement -- I overheard at least once or twice -- 'Is there anyone else in these trailers?'" Brucker said.
