Shots were fired, police negotiating in Oroville, Calif.
OROVILLE, Calif. - A student fired shots inside a northern California high school Friday morning, and deputies were trying to negotiate with him to put down the gun, authorities said. No injuries were immediately reported.
A Butte County Sheriff's dispatcher said a 911 call came in from Las Plumas High School just after 9 a.m. He said deputies were talking to the student.
It wasn't immediately clear where in the school the student was or if he had any hostages.
A message posted on the Oroville Union High School District Web site says all six schools in the district are on lockdown. The district's phone rang busy Friday morning.
"The Butte County Sheriff's Office has the campus under control," the district said in a statement on its Web site. "If your student is at the Las Plumas campus you will not be able to pick them up at this time.
