View Full Version : What is citizenship based on?

Ok, so I've been gone a while, and when I came back, there's this whole new citizenship thing. I read thru some of the scripts posted on this site. So.. buying stuff from various merchants seems to be what I need to do. Got a coupla questions though.

-Does it matter how quickly I buy "stuff"? If I set up a simple little loop script to buy something once per second, will that work a bit faster? Or is the amount of citizenship points limited to a certain amount per time period?

-What's better, frequency of purchase, or expense of purchase?

-Does it matter what I do with the purchased items once I own them? (Do I really have to eat all those muffins or whatever?)

Thanks in advance :-)

Buying something once per second is a waste of silver. While I haven't tested things exhaustively, a ten minute interval produces reasonable results IMO.

You can throw away your items, store them, resell them, whatever. The reason I prefer food items is that you don't need to leave whatever room you're in, which helps hide that you're scripting a bit, as opposed to running about town at clockwork intervals.

You also don't need to leave the room you're in if you eat food items, and you don't generate a huge pile of trash on the floor by dropping things either.

I've bought items costing a couple hundred silver and kept my expenses to 20-30k or so, which is pretty reasonable, I figure.

You can THROW the package of whatever you're buying away, too, without needing a garbage can.

I got backroom access at the General Store the other day just standing there, ordering bunches of belt pouches, and throwing away the package.

It doesn't work with every shop, though...you can't throw away a package in the guild shops if it isn't empty.

I'd say just use one of the scripts I have already posted, if its not in the town your looking to get citizenship in, just modify one real quick, it'd be easy.

To repeat a few things..

Time does matter, as there is 'some sort' of limit on how often purchasing something actually will count towards citizenship.

Basically I toyed with the timer in my scripts, going in between several different times. NO matter which time interval I used I found you can't get citizenship in less than 6-8 hours of constant purchasing.

I don't think cost affects it in anyway, otherwise you could go buy one highend lockpick and be done.

I have heard using all the town services like the bank, town healer, and selling at the pawnshop/gemshop also help. I haven't toyed with it that much.

And no it doesn't matter what you do with the item after you have bought it.

I use the food, for the same reasons Tolwynn stated. I don't want to have to go outside to throw things away, and I don't want to have to stow them, or resell them. And there isn't a trashcan in the eating places that I know of. Least not in the landing one I used. Didn't check the other towns.

There isn't a way to save coin by buying items and reselling them, cause you lose too much % between them. (unless perhaps you have someone with a very high trade skill - but i still doubt it)

The only other thing I might suggest is buying things you know you will use. Lockpicks as a rogue - or something like pure potions. Archery items like arrows, woods and arrowheads if you plan on starting fletching.

I sold stuff to the pawnbroker of the town I was trying to get citizenship in. I have no idea whether or not that actually helps in achieving citizenship, but it did help get back some silver from the ridiculous amounts of stuff I bought.

Oh. And use the town locksmith. Like everything else regarding citizenship, I'm not sure if this actually does anything either, but I've heard it through the grape vine, baby, enough to make me a believer.

Heard that doing bounties helped you get citizenship, too. Don't know if this is the case, though.

I would think there's some truth to this. I finally found a citizenship script for Illistim, ran it once, checked with the clerk, and already was eligible for full citizenship.

I had been doing Adventurer's Guild pretty heavily for about ten levels, and selling loot to the various NPC's - no real buying to speak of.
