Any enchant high or low doesn't matter, any metal since I'm going to have it altered anyhow.

Talk to Bluesmith on here. He does a great job and has reasonable prices. He made my perfect greatsword.

Made my greataxe as well. Highly recommend him.

You'll not only save more money but be more effective with a regular 4x maul over a 4x perfect mattock. Just saying.

I've looked at maul mattock DF's I personally don't hunt anything in plate, since it's rare that a high priced skin comes from critters wearing plate or have plate like armor.

Weapon AG Cloth Leather Scale Chain Plate RT Min RT Damage Type

War mattock DF .550 .450 .425 .375 .275 7 5 Crush 60/145
AvD 32 37 36 35 34 44 42 40 38 48 44 40 36 53 47 41 35

Maul DF .550 .425 .425 .375 .300 7 5 Crush 60/145
AvD 31 36 35 34 33 44 42 40 38 52 48 44 40 54 48 42 36

If you tack on the extra +3 to AvD and 6% to DF a perfect forged mattock is superior in every regard short of a .009 DF discrepency for plate armor.

Despite what mattocks say on the officials they don't 100% crush, or so someone posted.

Thus, mauls > mattocks.

EDIT: If you never hunt anything in plate and/or rarely chain and are only concerned with damage, then get a flamberge instead. Just a thought.

Hmm... that is a deal breaker then. Let me run some tests and see if this is true or not.

Good idea. I can't personally vouch for the crush thing.

Mattock is crush only. I've done about 200 swings with various mattocks and all have hit crush type without exception.

Good to know.
