The max trap the system is allowed to create, under any circumstances, is currently -480. It's hardcoded into the system. The max trap of a fully trained player is rather higher than that, in the mid -500s.

There's no fixed maximum for lock size (aside from the maximum the field can hold before overflowing). The highest triton box (outside of unusual circumstances, like a creature leveling up over and over by killing adventurers) is -1435. The max lock of a fully trained player falls in the low -1400s (absent things like enhancives, which can push it even higher).
