Anyone else ever been tempted to change their middle name legally to like Optimus or something else hilarious to put on your driver's license?

I assume I'd sober up in the fed building before I got that far.

Just start using it as your name, you have the common law right to call yourself whatever you want so long as it's not for fraudulent purposes or to defame someone. Essentially, whatever you call yourself is legally your name (it's more complicated in California), you can get a judge to change it, but this isn't actually needed.

When I lived in London I took my chance when those I moved in with asked me my name, to create anything I wanted.
I was called Church Steel for about 4 years, and eventually people who called the house for Dave got turned away. That was fucking awesome.

Mine'd totally be Benjamin Mad Experience Points G.

Is this for real? I can apply for a driver's licence or social security card and claim that my legal name is Optimus Skywalker or something?

This explains so much.

That's a government record, and thus that's fraud.

For example, my roommate's name is Pio Carlo. But his parents called him Pope growing up. He goes by Pope, signs his checks Pope, even has his checking account in the name of Pope. However, his driver's license says Pio Carlo, so does his SSN Card, and his passport.

I always liked "Piston"

McBaine would be cool too for a last name. I'd adopt an Arnold accent and run for governor.

That wins.

That wins.

Thanks.

I actually don't have a middle name and my mom tells me it's because I'm Jewish. But my dad is Jewish and has one, so I think it's complete bullshit (it may or may not be.)

Anyway, would I be allowed to put it in quotes or hyphenate it? I don't want to be B.M.E.P.G. as much as I more simply do B.M.G., or even B.F.G. 9000. Rofl. I'm tired as fuck and have to work until a million o'clock.

I think it was mentioned in another thread, but a National Guardsman changed his name to Optimus Prime. Read the article not to long ago.
