It's time for me to finally take a vacation. And soon. I haven't been on one in about 5 years, but then again the last 2 i've been living in a vacation paradise. But I need to get out. Getting island fever. Going to blow up on the wrong person. (nothing to do with my previous topic)
Any ideas on where I should go? Preferably something in Europe.
I'm thinking skiing in Norway. I have friends there. And in Germany.

Also heard that Northern Greece has some nice resorts.
Sometimes the best vacations are to simply sell your computer.

Funny, but not helpful. Possibly sig-quality, though.
If you want helpful, don't come to England. The weather's shit this year. The drink's expensive, you're likely to be stabbed by kids and people with an American accent are frowned upon in 99% of the country.

It's funny. Back in 2000 everybody treated me so well in England.

I did 2 weeks in Germany. Hit Frankfurt, a bit on the dirty side but the historical area was very nice, Triburg (sp) was awesome, especially the old city. My favorite was by and far Garmisch. Gorgeous scenery and a lot of things to do in the area, like the Alps, The Eagles Nest, and several castles. Spent the most time there. Loved every minute of it.

I can deal with a bit of bad weather. I haven't even seen rain in 6 months. and maybe only 5 days with any clouds at all. BUT what else is there to do there?

If you like beer, then drink until your heart is content. Go soon, or you will mist Octoberfest. There are castles to see, people to meet, BEER TO DRINK. Did I mention the beer? Oh, and stop in the black forest to buy a real clock. God, I have been domesticated! Did I mention the beer? Oh, there is skiing in the alps in Garmisch too. That is awesome, year round skiing, with beer.

Oh, did I mention the beer?
I have heard Scotland is beautiful (and has good beer, and whiskey) if you like walking around. There is also Ireland (again, good beer and whiskey) if you like red heads.

A college friend of mine went to Belize this year and raved about it. He said the diving was better there than in Australia and he loved the canopy walk. A short boat trip to Mexico and you can tour excellent Maya ruins.

If you're coming from a tropical location, I'd say Spain is always a fantastic bet and probably a bit less of a change in weather than Germany.

Just took a tour of Europe this summer. In Germany, Munich was an absolute blast. Prague was freaking amazing I recommend everyone going there at least once in their life. Paris is worth seeing as well.
Berlin had an absolute shit ton of the most beautiful women I've ever seen so you can't go wrong there, unless of course you don't swing that way.

A couple of my friends went to Belize last year and loved it although one of them could hardly stand the heat.
TheE is right regarding Spain. I went to Spain this year in typical Brit abroad style and always have a great time there. Alcudia or Son Caliu in Majorca (Spanish island) is lovely and the temp is warm but not TOO hot, this time of year. We did an amazing (but long) trek to Soller, up mountains and all that jazz as well as your typical lying on a beach watching hot lifeguards etc.

Did you go traditional topless on the beach?

Still can't recommend Prague enough.
Scotland is absolutely gorgeous but the weather is probably turning to shit about this time.
I'd go with Germany.
Berlin, Potsdam, Munich, with a quick drive to prague.
You could also dip down into Austria and check out the Alps. Also amazing.

Belgium is my favourite country to visit. It's amazing if you're into history. I could drone on for ages about all the cool stuff to do! If you like your war history, its such an interesting place to visit.

History is great, especially since i dabble some in photography.
And i do know enough brits to do a passable accent. And i do so love the way they party. I hear all of the pint glasses are breakable easily.
Germany is starting to sound better and better, since I really do want to do some skiing while i'm away, too. I think i may even take a whole month off. i have over 2 months saved up. I do want to avoid France like the plague, though. I've met and spoken to many french. Don't like them much.
The biggest thing, though, in my opinion, is that I want to avoid americans as much as possible.

Too close to the Dutch. Sounds like Shifted would have a blast in Germany, Austria or Switzerland- great skiing. But I wouldn't write off Norway (just don't take any lutefisk) or Italy.

you can do that outfront of any corner store or phonebox here.
