Is clearly a far more serious business than most of us realized. This gentleman had apparently experienced some trouble from cops before so he installed a camera in his car (or so he claims).

Thoughts?

Little man with a badge syndrome. Unfortunately this is a result of his having his lunch money taken in high school repeatedly.

Its these guys who give people who want to be police officers for real reasons a bad name.

Completely unprofessional, and should be relieved of duty permanently no questions asked. With that said, this kid definitely purposely entrapped the Ofc., but that's not really relevant at this point.

A police officer in Missouri has been suspended after a videotape surfaced on YouTube.

On the tape, you can hear Saint George Police Sergeant James Kuhnlein making threats against a driver, Brett Darrow, who put a dash camera inside his car.

The confrontation happened after the officer approached Darrow’s car in a parking lot Friday night, September 7, 2007.

Officer Kuhnlein has been suspended pending investigaton.

That kid was specifically targetting this cop. Watch the beginning. He pulls into the lot the cop is in, and just parks in the middle of the lot. That is suspicious as all hell imo. Sitting in your car in an empty lot? Then once questioned, he could have just done what the cop asked, but he decided to press.

Now, that doesn't excuse the cops retarded behavior after this.. I'm just saying that this kid isn't as 'innocent' as people make him out to be.

Agreed that the kid had an agenda. Too bad for the cop it was a)legal and b)he was stupid enough to fall for it.

The cop deserves to be desked until he can get a grip on a better perspective of a proper law enforcement officer.

The kid at some point does say he has a camera in the car, and the cop is still like, "I don't fucking care, I'm gonna pwn you anyways!" Not a direct quote, but whatever.

The kid's lucky the guy calmed down after awhile.

Well, y'know, with white people we always have this huge chip on our shoulders!

Mainly I thought it was instructive about how government officials can fuck up and how media focused people are to be prepped for/seeking this sort of thing.

The rest of it reminds me of Harold and Kumar.

I guarantee you that if this was a black driver, we would have heard about it on all news channels by now.. and Sharp and Jackson would be all over it... trying to get reparations from that police department.

Rofl .. these guys are some real winners. Kuehnlein being the officer on the tape and Uhrig is the Chief.

"A check of court records shows Kuehnlein himself pleaded guilty of assault and stealing in two different cases, in 1988 and 1990. He successfully petitioned a judge in St. Louis County in 1998 to expunge his criminal record, which was making it hard for him to get work as a cop.

The judge ordered those records sealed, as well as records of an acquittal for drunken driving and an assault arrest that did not result in charges.

St. George Police Chief Scott Uhrig earlier this week suspended Kuehnlein without pay while he investigates the case. On Wednesday, Kuehnlein hired attorney Travis L. Noble, a former police officer. He said he would review the unedited video today.

Uhrig said he has worked hard to cleanse the city of its image as a speed trap with a police department staffed by novices. But even he is not untouched by scandal.

Five years ago, an administrative commission upheld an accusation that Uhrig propositioned a 17-year-old girl for sex during a traffic stop in 2000, when he was an Arnold officer.

Chrystal Cole's civil rights lawsuit against Uhrig and the city went to mediation; the disposition was not made public.

Cole told investigators that Uhrig had her drive to an empty parking lot where he spoke of jail, petted her arm and face, told her she was "beautiful, hot, and tempting," and suggested a "quickie."

At the time, Uhrig denied ever seeing Cole that night, and said that she had fabricated the story out of malice over her previous contact with Arnold police.

The commission upheld Cole's accusation."

That may or may not be true.

I happen to be of the belief that race doesn't fucking matter and I'm sick of hearing about it all the time.

"Can you believe what that white cop did to that black man?"

These types of statements only hold our society back imo.

I think PB was commenting on how ridiciulous members of the NAACP are when it comes to any black individual in any circumstance becoming a race issue (IE agreeing with you). I don't think he was saying this situation was based on race.

Thats sad indeed. Pathetic even. Some people simply do not deserve to be in positions of authority. The judge should have never sealed the records and should have admonished Kuehnlein for approaching the court for such a matter.

Personally I think someone needs to review the Judge to make sure he didnt get a kickback for this. Or at the very least make it known that he's granting amnesty for officers of the law who abuse their authority.

I read it as he was a criminal, then he decided he wanted to become a cop (which was made difficult with the whole BEING A FELON thing). It's even more hilarious if he was a police officer during the criminal period, though.

I agree with you about "the white cop did to the black man...", unless the question of Race was the reason for the incident. Otherwise it is just about two people.

Give me a break. If it was black on black you'd never hear about it either. I should know, one of my good buddies was roughed up by a black cop and the police department refused to give up the officer's video tape, subsequently his arrest was thrown out of court. Everything is not about race and some whites often make these issues about race just as much as some blacks. It gets old on either end.

Actually, having the detector going off during the filming was pretty smart since it would lend evidence to the tape not being edited.

I just wonder how many people have been thrown in jail with bogus charges for taking the wrong tone with this guy. If he's been a cop for to decades it has to be hundreds.

Am I the only one that feels a lot less comfortable when there's a cop around?

I've had two personal instances in the recent past actually.. my mother got the shit beat out of her by a cop and then charged with bat on a leo..... my mother... all 60 year old 100lbs of her.. The whole time I didn't believe her and gave the officer the benefit. Turns out I was wrong.

That charge got dropped because the FHP "lost the video/audio". They are in the process of settling now.

My very shy and timid micro biologist nerdy ass sister in law got tazered twice on a speeding stop... 6mph over the limit and ended up in the hospital. I know that sounds absurd.. I thought so myself.

He asked for her insurance and she took off her seatbelt in his presence to get to the glove box and give it to him. Then he pulled an episode like in the video and said she wasn't wearing a seatbelt. He asked her to sign the ticket and she refused. He tazered her thru the window. rofl. *She was certainly in the wrong for arguing and not signing the ticket.. there is a place called court for that but there was no need to tazer her twice for it.

Also going thru the settlement process. I better get some nice gifts this year for suggesting a civil rights attorney in both.

Gan

Tazered through the window?

:wtf:

Someone needs to tazer that cop in the fucking shower.

It has nothing to do, to my knowledge, with people like this guy. Anecdotally, I have a friend named Dave who gets irrationally nervous around police. He's one of the most straight edge guys that I know but for example I was driving one day he was a passenger we got pulled over leaving a restaurant as part of a sobriety check. We were asked to hold our hands out flat and steady as part of the test and he simply couldn't do it which elevated the whole situation. I can't explain why he couldn't do it and neither could he, he simply just got really nervous for whatever reason.

Probably because the cop had a reputation for threatening teens ... or pushing for teh sexors.
